Salam people,
Well I'm having CIE's, so I put my pc aside for a few days. Well yesterday I took it out and you know I put everything back together again and I started my of pc and surprise surprise, no display. At first I thought my motherboard went back to it's default settings. So I put my VGA cable and go Bios and remove the auto option to PCI-e.
Again no luck, so I again accessed bios and saw that it was again on Auto, so I began to research and people said that it was probably a GPU problem, but I realised that my DVI cable was on the floor for 2 weeks and usually it got under the desk and I think it might be faulty.

So my question is can a Bad DVI cable prevent a computer from giving display? I can hear in the background the starting of windows and all my GPU fans are working and I dont see an issue with my GPU. Please help :/

Yup faulty cable can be a problem. If you can hear the audio and if pressing capslock etc turns on\off the keyboard light then its not a GPU problem, more likely a wire problem. I know this because if there is a gpu error, the computer wouldn't go into windows.

How can you go to bios and change options if you are not getting any display??

Just figured it out that you are checking it without GPU. Your GPU must have come with a DVI converter. Try it with your VGA cable or get one from Market.

I did but for some reason it's not getting me a signal. I already had a VGA cable, so when i connected the vga to dvi converter, i get no signal. The monitor says no signal detected. Please note that my new monitor is an old one, you know the all in one type, one go something dell.
I checked my pc on another friend's monitor and it worked there. He was also using a vga to dvi converter and he had display on my computer. What gives man? Is my converter bad? Did i get a wrong converter? Is my monitor dead? If it is dead how can i access bios on it. I'm confused as hell :/

GPU is fine, i took my pc to a friends house and it worked there. Check my other post below for more information on what happened after that.

Sounds like a very basic problem like connecting in the wrong port. I once spent 5 hours figuring out why my pc wasn't giving display when I had plugged the cable in to the builtin port instead of GPU. Hope you are not making a blunder like that one. Otherwise get a new vga or dvi cable or both if you can manage to check.

What's the difference between a DVI-I and DVI-D port?
My computer does not give any display when connected with DVI-I port. I get no signal. I'm gonna go get a DVI-D converter. Maybe it will work.

That shouldn't be an issue as DVI-I can handle both analog and digital while DVI-D only sends digital signal.

It could be but if it is then it should work after a bit of wiggling
I have no clue bro :/
Maybe or maybe not. I don't think it's my gpu you know. Also my new motherboard is Asus h61-m. I don't have another pci e slot so i cant say.
If a GPU is dead what would be the problems?
No video, fan not working?
If my gpu is even dead how can i hear the windows and even log on to my computer?
Whenever i went into the bios i can select pci e slot but it does not implement it, what might be the issue? Maybe the motherboard is not detecting the slot anymore?
