i dunt think c2d 2ghz can play 1080p HD files,, as far as i know c2d 3.0ghz with 1gb ram iz the minimum to run 1080p HD files

No.. any C2D is capable of playing 1080p HD files...

His Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz will be able to play two 1080p videos simultaneously, even more probably.

thanx for rply my brothers well there was a time when my system played it smoothly but it happened after i ran the system restore n now the codec r out of order i have again tried to fix by restoring it again 4 times but failed when idle it shows 2% CPU usage but when i play the file on media player classic it goes to 96-92%.....i have tried different k-lite codec versions but nothing my hard drive iz almost empty and no un-necessary programs installed.

Well, if player is the issue then you can try KMPlayer. I play 720p files with it smoothly when my KLM Media Player Classic does not give smooth play. (See my rig for specs)

VLC wasn't my favorite. I mean its definitely the easiest way of playing 1080p files, but from what I saw the quality suffered compared to DivX + proper codecs (Haali Media Splitter, AC3 Audio, and some other I can't remember the name of).
