Actually LED is also a better version of the same LCD. It has thinner panel, less energy consumption and less heat emission and better colours. BTW what's the price difference between the two? If it's a lot like 8-10k then buy LCD. Currently I have LCD at home and that's just fine but problem is that I want one for my own room that's why I'm thinking of it.

Samsung EH5000 40 incher <--- is this a good television? I have seen a lot of good reviews for it and seems that it has an excellent price to performance ratio. I am confused about its 60Hz Refresh rate (100 CMR) Is it enough for gaming and watching BLUs (action movies mostly)? or would it give that blurry effect?

By 60Hz we mean that the screen of the LED refreshes once (changes a frame) in every 1/60th of a sec, so does 60 HZ means 60 frames per second? If iam correct then a 60Hz TV would work fine even with a next gen console (1080p, 60fps)? I am confused in all this stuff, it would be great if someone could explain this to me.

P.S do tell me about ze Opera effect as well! at what frequency does it start to function?

Unfortunately, Tridef offers support for very few passive 3DTVs.

There are a few other options you can try:

1. Install iZ3D (similar to Tridef) and see if that works for your TV.

2. Upgrade your Windows OS to Windows 8. Your graphics card (the AMD 7850) supports DX11.1, which in turn will enable Windows 8's native Stereo 3D support. Keep in mind, however, only games with in-game support for stereo 3D will run in 3D. Example, Max Payne 3, Deus EX: Human Revolution (with the stereo 3D title update applied), Crysis 2, Trine 2, Dirt 3, and Sonic Generations. There are several more, but these are the ones I remember at the moment.

3. Replace your AMD GPU with an Nvidia GPU. The latter offers support for a wider range of active and passive displays, so chances are that your TV will be supported by 3D Vision.

The big difference in because shophive and homeshopping dont offer samsung pakistan warranty. and the eye strain is normal every 3d content will strain ur eye. u shd go for passive 3d if u want to avoid eye strain. google active shutter 3d technology vs passive 3d

Some people, usually visually impaired, suffer more from eye strain as compared to others.

I have ES6200 40" which came with 2 glasses, most definitely the same as your friends, and have this LED installed in my hostel room, and from a wide variety of viewers, I can tell you that the eye strain (keeping everything constant) varies from person to person, right from feeling nothing (me! :p) to a friend who felt extremely nauseous, and he wasn't able to view even for a bit longer!

The price difference is more likely to be due to provision of warranties (local, international, none!). Method of import (smuggling! :p) and other various reasons.
By the way, the choice of enjoying a 3D content is very subjective. Some adore it, others can't stand it!
Personally I like it, but it's charm is in viewing only good content in 3D.
