Alienware 18 - the latest version before it was discontinued recently. Chose the 780M SLI over the 880 because of its stability. 512 Samsung SSD + 750 Gb HDD, bluray and so on

Nope - it's not. Not yet. Alienware is relying too much on its amplifier technology. They just can't understand the biggest flaw that no body wants to carry the laptop as well as it's amplifier.

This is one of the reasons that many of the fellow NBR members are now shifting to the 17" batman aka clevo's 770ZM.

That is correct but I would rather just have a laptop to carry then carry it's amplifier along. I'm a photographer and even when I'm not gaming I need the graphic power for photo processing.

well i have been using windows 10 since it came out almost two months now if the display was to go bad it should have by now but its still going strong of no worries.

But whats the real issue ...so many ppl reported this surely there must be a reason ..

I my self em about to get a beast if everything goes smoothly

i need some help from you guys ---see i want to get the m18 with 880m sli 4940mx but its installed with win 10 ,,which after i have read the entire thread of mr.fox and others .its way to risky endevaour a lot of money is involved and if it kils or now or even after i install win 8 on it ---risk factor is to great .

i told mr.fox that u guys have m18 as well and its not effected but he said its to big of a risk to take and expensive -----what should i do i am quite confused ---i just can not take the risk of geting some thing only to find out later that its dead or dying on me ---coz i know i wont be able to fix the panel here in pakistan atleast.

do u think re installing win 8.1 will help now after win 10 has been installed for god knows how many hours on it ---- whats ur suggestion

I'll make it easy for you, unless you're getting your system in used from someone on NBR you should not get the 880's - they're really not worth the extra money and the performance issues are too much. Get the 780s and live in peace.

Second, if the windows 10 comes pre-installed from the previous seller than I would recommend going along with it - it's working with it so let it work.

In my case I didn't even upgrade to windows 8 - I love the windows 7 ultimate and thus I stayed with it rather than putting myself through the bad interface of windows 8.

well i havent had any major problems other than the broken sli drivers in windows 10 which will prolly be fixed soon but if your still not 100% sure go back to windows 7 according to NBR Win7 is still the performance king too be honest i might revert to win 7 to if the bad drivers are not fixed soon

Sir ur laptop might be exception but u uograded gpus so maybe ur laptop was not effected ..

Mr fox says even if u re install another os the damage is done
