That's great! What's your ID on the RSI forums? Will add you up.

lol none whatsoever outside of the $40 that you pay for the game :p

You get a ship as part of your game package. The bigger ships aren't necessarily better, and some of them are muli-crew.

i have same name as i have here. gullfounder.

I also had the same 40$ package but the group i joined gave me Free 5$ Alpha access and now they gave me 5$ add-on for Galaxy maps. Also the group gave me Constellation for free ride for a month. which have returned now :)

Bigger ships look wayy sexy though...and the multi crew idea with ur friends...sounds good..but then again..I guess with all the trading and exploration in it etc..it would be more like the "Second Life" kinda theme...and second life is wayyy popular..so i can only say this would be awesome too..:)..
and I was going thru the backers list, and there are ppl who have pledged even >5K $ for this..:O

V.9 feature list:

Murray Cup Racing Mode: As shown at Gamescom, players can now race their pledge ships in a specially designed upper-atmospheric scenario!
Vanduul Swarm Co-Op: Take on the alien hoards with a friend, or competitor!
Flyable M50 and 350R: The M50 and the 350R have been readied for flight to kick off the race mode. These ships will now be flyable in all Arena Commander game modes.
Private Matches: Tired of being matched with random players in AC? Private matches will let you play with friends!
Friend Codes: We’re launching a code system for both private and public matches so you can connect with your wingmen.
Leaderboards: Your performance in Arena Commander’s various modes will display on the RSI website and allow you to compare with others.
Updated Ship Performance: We’ve increased the speed and acceleration of every ship. With this we’ve also reworked the afterburner mechanic to increase acceleration instead of top speed.
HUD Update: We’ve overhauled the usability of the visor HUD interface so you can customize your ships systems much more easily in flight.
New Hangars: We’ve remastered all of Star Citizen’s Hangars with the new forward-looking room system and added the Asteroid Hangar.
New Pause Menu: Our refactored pause menu is a large step forward aesthetically, and will support new features like custom keybindings in the future. In the meantime we’ve included selectable profiles for the most common peripherals.
6DOF: With the improvements to the IFCS and flight physics we are now ready to introduce 6DOF movement for an entirely new way to fly.

Huge update. Can't wait!

Yeah, the bigger ships definitely look classy. And I agree, the fundamental backbone of Star Citizen is its persistent online universe, with trading and exploration being a significant part of the experience. The dogfight module is only a small slice of the game.

I usually log onto the PG forums two or three times a month, browse through the more interesting topics and then scurry back to my cave. I occasionally searched for the keywords "Starcitizen" and never got any matches. Today I decided to try "Star Citizen", and found this topic.

I bought this game a couple of months back, right after watching the gamescon demo. Good to know there are more people interested. I actually put most of my gaming budget into Mechwarrior (Thats where I heard about Starcitizen) and could only afford the basic Aurora + Arena Commander access package. I might just drop some more cash into this game sometime in the near future.

What is really appealing about this game for me is the effort the devs are putting into making a universe that seems organic and natural, especially the lore behind the tiny little details. Things like community input for ingame beverages and creating new languages are what allow this game to distinguish itself from most other MMO's/RPS's in terms of realism and believability. For me personally, immersion is far more important than gratuitous combat and Starcitizen seems designed to cater precisely to that.

After hearing about Voice Attack, I decided to try it for myself. After a couple of minutes with the trial version, I was hooked. In order to use popular the voice profiles (ANNA primarily, do look it up), you need the full version which costs ~8 dollars

If you dont want to shell out for it, a barebones alternative called "Vocals" can be downloaded here:
https://github.com/Al-th/Vocals/blob/master/Vocals/bin/Release/Vocals.exe?raw=true

Its nowhere near as polished as VA, and doesn't have the fancy canned voices but it works well enough. The dev is also fairly active and sporadically updates it.

Sorry, should have offered some clarification in the post. Voice attack is an app that allows macro's to be executed using voice commands. It is quite commonly used in arena commander, since it allows management of ship sub-systems in the middle of fights without taking the focus off of flying/aiming. For instance, you can divert power to your rear shields by saying "Max rear shields".

Take a look at this video showcasing ANNA which is the most popular voice attack profile for Star Citizen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BttwxCrXkys

Now that is cool feature. Never heard of it after using it in Tom Clany End war game. So now it came back in full force i guess.

So what's the ETA on this scam?

As Star Citizen turns eight years old, the single-player campaign still sounds a long way off

Squadron 42 is meant to be a cinematic, star-studded story-based single-player adventure akin to the Wing Commander games Roberts made his name with in the '90s. CIG has released flashy trailers for the game, starring virtual recreations of Hollywood actors such as Mark Hamill, Gillian Anderson, Gary Oldman and Mark Strong, but it has yet to become playable for backers in any form.

"We still have a ways to go before we are in beta, but everyone on Squadron 42 is working very hard to deliver something great," CIG boss Chris Roberts said in an AMA on the Roberts Space Industries website to coincide with Star Citizen's eight birthday (Star Citizen was unveiled on 10th October 2012).

The AMA was meant to celebrate Star Citizen's milestone, but among posts about upcoming features for the main game were questions from clearly disgruntled fans who complained about the radio silence around Squadron 42, which is currently six years behind its original delivery target.
Star Citizen has raised an astonishing $314m from nearly three million people since launching as a crowdfunded project in 2012, and the money continues to roll in: according to the official website, Star Citizen generated over $3m in September. Drilling down further, $236,775 was made just yesterday, 9th October.

This game should benefit greatly from DirectStorage (whenever that happens). In its current state, the persistent universe stutters whenever it needs to stream in new data.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
