Why would you all watch porn over VPN?? :S Anyways, doubt they'll actually put any such order in effect, really we aren't in such bad times... Yet!

This has already been put under affect. PTA has enforced a penalty for anyone who is found using an encrypted VPN

There is a difference between privately browsing something and using a VPN. A VPN is something that you rent for money or install on a VPS, not everyone gets it. A VPN is mainly used to encrypt your browsing so that no one knows where you are from or what your details are ( ip etc). The private browsing thing in your browser has nothing to do with a VPN, private browsing just doesn't store any information of the sites you visit on your PC. PTA can still tell what you are watching even if you are 'privately browsing' the web using your browser. But if you use a VPN, they wont find out anything you do on the interent, you are invisible to their eyes.

Now there will be an Authorized VPN fronted by someone and owned by "mr you know who owns a percentage of everything!", which rip everybody off like KESC!

^Now there's a conspiracy theory for everybody!

So basically the government is saying businesses can trust them with confidential and sensitive information completely?

This looks less like a security measure and more like a delusional paranoid method of keeping tabs on people on a way more private level.

Ha. Reminds of the The Nose, The Ear, The Mouth from V for Vendetta graphic novel.

Yay Pakistani government. Always implementing the most retarded policies.

if their is going to be a VPN..its going to be encrypted. otherwise oganizations using VPN's wont use them anymore....who'll like their traffic to be sniffed? or risk man in the middle attack? etc etc.

P.S. funny thing..i ownder how many of internet surfing users read Rolling stone or know the name Matt Taibbi ?????
if it had been against Zardari and co. then the action could've been understood....
i'd believe it when i see official statement...

Encrytped browsing is totally different than VPN. You can still visit https site and emails. Private Browsing of your browser is that it just store data on memory rather than Hard disk. While VPN is encrypted communication between your PC and other server or PC on any other part of world. What it does, it grabs all our traffic to first that server and then foreign server back to site.
Like this:
Your PC (open site) ---- DNS ---- Foregin Server --- Your requested site -----foreign server --- then to your PC..
While without VPN:
Your PC --- DNS --- Site server ---- your PC.

VPN communication is whole encrypted... this what they want to decode to avoid terrorist activities..

It does say "This was stated in a PTA notice provided to The Express Tribune by a source at an Islamabad-based internet service provider (ISP)." in the linking article.

Will have to look around the painfully stupid PTA website for answers.

Wait so is this stuff totally the same like using blewpass.com to browse the internet. I mean there are some websites that Worldcall has blocked or some stuff that I can't view like some images by imageshack. But just if I browse using blewpass it works like a charm :/
