I wonder how much searching it took to find that :p

I don't think anyone ever labeled Horizon as an RPG, it's an open world game with RPG elements, but these days just about every game has some RPG elements to it, even RE7 has stat upgrades. Awfully interested in posting in game topics for games we're not interested in, are we ? :p
Its from the latest set of previews. Dont be mad at yourself for having missed it :p

Uhhh it was always identified as an "open world RPG" hence all the confusion. Alot more interested than someone who only wants this as a faux gfx showpiece :p wont take long to search who made this thread in the first place :p

Wonder how much The Witcher influence had to do with it :p

anyway, game looks pretty fun to play. If the final product is anywhere close to the previews, it will be a huge improvement over the last shitty Killzone game GG made.

ill be satisfied if this is half as good as that masterpiece :p
Given my equal time with both titles (20mins), it felt twice as good overall. The core gameplay/combat mechanics were addictive completely on their own merit, the visuals and presentation further accentuated the experience.

Controls and fluidity can only take you so far. From what Ive seen, melee combat looks like Enslaved (thats not a compliment) and im not sold on the ranged combat yet. Looks like using the gadgets and environment to your advantage will be the most fun approach. I hope it can tell a good story with memorable characters and doesnt get repetitive. Visuals are fantastic so thats covered.

Billions on hours on Destiny is a testament to how far it can take you lol.

Melee combat...would you believe me if I say that I didn't use it :|
May be I didn't encounter the melee-ables. I wonder.

Yes, I suppose if you break the gameplay down in components, each component might feel good or average on its own. But the way it all comes together, the landscape, grass, pond, hill, line of sight, enemy attack patterns, herd, etc etc. It's the coming together of all gameplay elements that make it special.

I hope it can tell a good story with memorable characters and doesnt get repetitive.
Now that's where my concerns are. I'm not really expecting a good story, something probably around the Crysis standards, and I don't think we'll get anyone memorable in terms of personality. I'm pretty sure some boss fights will be far more memorable than any character. I won't worry much about the repetition aspect. The setting makes it impossible for them to make it repetitive. They'll have to screw up royally for that.

You played 20mins, so yeah I believe you :p You can do silent stealth takedowns (like in Batman) on the smaller ones and tame them (like in Far Cry Primal). Stealth has its own skill tree.

Taking down a dragon Skyrim felt great, but do something like that enough times as part of uninteresting and fetch quests and itll get repetitive. They have reputed devs on board though so my hopes are high.

Ooooh ok. I failed at a stealth take down when I was given a chance/scenario. It wasn't as simple as I had thought. The AI is sharp enough. I had to run and evade, had to get out of line of sight and in the grass to "reset" the scenario and try the take down again. That part of melee worked really well.

So this is an "RPG" as much as Asscreed/Shadow of Mordor/Tomb Raider/Batman Arkham Knight/Far Cry are. Its primarily an action adventure game. The dialogue choices won't have drastically different outcomes or shape the outcome of the story altogether. Labeling each response with a "strong arm", "heart" and "brain" icon is just a dumb hand holding idea.
This might be true when it releases..I am not convinced of GG's credentials for creating RPGs aswell..but I think GG pushed it more as an action adventure type open world aswell... till then atleast hold off from judgement..I mean you can say the same thing about GTA 5

Anyway, its alot more clear now what the game is aiming for, so it doesn't matter.

From the recent videos that i have seen it does indeed feel less of an RPG and more of an action adventure game. How much RPG elements are there, only time will tell. But I'm positive its going to be far above then games you've mentioned both in terms of quality and relevance. Facial animations are lifeless to a point that it feels kinnda annoying but the action itself feels refreshingly gorgeous on the other hand. There seems to be a good amount of variety weapons, enemies, environments etc as well to keep you interested. In terms of story, on one hand when i come to think of it GG has not been very good at that even when it even comes to linear games but on the other hand a apart of me wants them to break that streak so I'll be cautiously positive until then.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!
