Is it just me or does the camera feel a bit too close to Kratos?

How did they manage to make the kid so annoying in a one a half minute trailer?

I thought the same. As far as I recall the FoV was a bit wider in the initial reveal but those were outdoor environments. Maybe it gets close indoors.

PlayStation Store lists God of War release date as March 22

At least two regional PlayStation Stores—North America and Chile—have listed the new God of War for PlayStation 4 with a March 22, 2018 release date.

According to Google Cache, the PlayStation Store listed God of War with a placeholder release date of December 31, 2018 release date up until December 3, meaning the change was applied today.

i hve nothing for january hope days gone it gets jan 2018 release date
There's less then 1% chance of Days Gone getting a Jan release date. They haven't announced a release date yet and even if they do at PSX, it won't be off only 1 month. Days Gone is likely going to be a Summer title.

There are at least 4 games in January I'm looking forward to:

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
Lost Sphear
Monster Hunter: World
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT (only very mildly)

PSX 2017: God of War PS4 Takes 25-30 Hours to Beat, Says Dev

Barlog stated that the game takes around 25 to 30 hours to complete. If accurate, that means it's easily the longest title in the series.

We already know that God of War isn't open world or anything like that, but you are free to explore environments as you pass through them on your way to the next plot point. It's sounding like a very ambitious project.

Barlog also reassured fans that development is on track, and the studio is currently doing a lot of play testing. In other words, it's very much in the latter stages of production. We didn't get a release date, but a recent rumour said that God of War is coming in March 2018, which seems more than reasonable to us.

God of War Sequels May Explore Egyptian or Mayan Mythology With God of War heading to Norse mythology when it hit consoles and PCs later this year, it sounds like future games in the series could focus on the Egyptians and Mayans. As one of our most-anticipated games of 2018, it seems everyone can’t wait to tool up and take on the mythological beasts of Sony’s game series. As a soft reboot of the series, the latest God of War (technically number eight) will leave behind its Greek setting and take on the likes of Thor and Odin. Presuming that the game does as well as fans of the franchise hope, the brains behind God of War have ambitious plans for its future.Related: God Of War: Every Update You Need To KnowSpeaking to Game Informer, God of War director Cory Barlog threw around a few possibilities of where he sees the games going next:“The Greek games were the Greek era of God of War. Moving on, the next mythological belief system he interacts with became the Norse era of God of War. But we may end up going on to the Egyptian era and the Mayan era and so on and so forth.”As the sequel to 2010’s critically-acclaimed God of War III, this year’s entry will once again follow the hero Kratos as he takes on a new batch of fearsome foes. However, this time, Kratos will have his son in tow and a much colder setting to help usher in a new era for God of War. It is interesting that Barlog doesn’t seem to want to stick to Norse mythology for long, so perhaps God of War will be the only game hanging around the shores of Scandinavia.Shannon Studstill, Sony Santa Monica Head of Studio, explained the importance of the upcoming game and how the series needed to find some new blood after eight games and 13 years:“What became apparent to me was that we were watching this franchise wane a bit. It was getting old. The storyline with Kratos being the hardcore badass – I think people were starting to say, ‘What’s next?’ I felt like, in order to reinvent, we really needed to turn a lot of things around.”It will come as no surprise that God of War will likely tackle the Egyptians at some point. At E3 2016, Barlog revealed that half of the team had been well into an Egyptian setting for a new game when the team decided to switch to the Norse setting. We also know that God of War won’t be the last game for Kratos, so could the hardened survivor be sent looking for his “mummy” in the sandy setting of Egypt?Either way, it is great to see that a series that was once circling the drain thanks to the like of God of War: Ascension is heading out on a brave new course of next-generation gaming. Similar to the way that Assassins Creed isn’t afraid of charting new territory, God of War could mark the beginning of a whole new world (or worlds) for the flagship PlayStation property. There is still no release date, but God of War is slated for an early 2018 drop.Source: Game Informer

Here’s how God of War is different with Kratos’ axA more ‘grounded’ replacement for the Blades of ChaosSony Santa Monica’s revival of the God of War franchise on PlayStation 4 is an attempt to reinvent the series: new mythology, new voice actor, new weapons. That last change required a rethinking of the entire combat setup in 2018’s God of War, as the studio explained in a video interview with Game Informer. The first concept art for God of War showed Kratos holding an ax, a decision that the team made partly because it wanted to take a more “grounded” direction for the game, according to lead gameplay designer Jason McDonald. He said that the developers were initially unsure of how to make Kratos’ ax feel distinct. It was a tall task, considering that Kratos’ previous weapon is unique and so closely associated with the character. (After all, the Blades of Chaos consisted of a pair of large, jagged slicing tools that were literally chained to Kratos’ forearms.)McDonald, who has been working on the series since the original God of War on PlayStation 2, told Game Informer that things started to fall into place once a developer came up with the concept of Kratos throwing the ax — and having it magically return to him, à la Thor’s hammer. (There’s no word on whether the ax has a name that’s as badass as Mjölnir.) With the ax instead of the Blades of Chaos, said McDonald, combat is “a little bit slower than [in] previous God of War games, but it’s just as fluid and just as brutal as it’s ever been.”For the new God of War, Sony Santa Monica brought the third-person camera much closer to Kratos, moving the perspective to what’s basically an over-the-shoulder position. While that decision fits with the more up-close-and-personal ax combat, it limits the player’s ability to see threats from behind. That’s part of the reason Atreus, Kratos’ son, plays a role in combat — the kid and other indicators help out with the player’s situational awareness, calling out attackers’ locations.“It took a lot of iterations on the tech of the enemies, and just the control of the character, to really get this into a place where we’re like, OK, even though the camera’s close and you can’t see everything around you, the game somehow still works,” McDonald told Game Informer. As you may have seen in God of War trailers, Atreus tries to hold his own in battles using a bow and arrow, so he won’t merely distract his dad’s foes. And Kratos can throw his ax to pin enemies down, which frees him up for combat moves like tackles and throws. That’s a pretty good father-and-son team!God of War is scheduled to be released in early 2018 exclusively on PlayStation 4. You can watch the full four-minute video interview with McDonald at Game Informer.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
