DAMNNNNNN!!!! I have a work day tomorrow and yet I just couldn't put down the controller... Played 6 straight hours and the game deserves every bit of praise it has received.

I quit playing Battlefront II at around 2am, and saw you online even then haha. :p Glad you're enjoying it.

Necrokiller what about your first impressions?

Edit: hearing about FPS drops after downloading the update? This true?

Played roughly 5hrs and so far Im enjoying it. Producion values sky high. I hope the main plot picks up though.

Base PS4 clearly struggles to maintain a smooth 30fps. The drops during combat and cut scenes are quite frequent. The latter being much worse.

Without getting spoilerish, there is a semi scripted event in the beginning that was really good. Hope theres more of that.

Only major gripes are (apart from performance issues) the level design and a few inconsistencies in combat.. I hope it opens up sooner than later because so far its a series of corridors with super limited interaction. When the game wants, Kratos can make huge jumps, other times, you cant climb ledges unless there are painted markings on it. You run into instances of ‘invisible walls’ as well where you expect Kratos to vault over.

The attack build up animation is a bit too slow even for the light attacks. Makes the combat feel a bit sluggish. Throw and retrieve axe mechanic is easily the best part about It though. Super satisfying. There were a couple of good puzzles where it was incorporated well, other times it feels forced. Also, plentyyy of button combinations to remember... controls defintely take getting used to. Theres a decent amount of control customization options that I havent seen on consoles before. Appreciate that, SSM.

Also, I might buy a magnifying glass on my way back from work. UI text is that small and I usually sit very close to the screen.

nah..you are going blind old man - you need glasses, memory pills ( to remember simple combos) and a functioning visual cortex to take in the glory of GOW ....(lmao)

there is nothing, wait, let me fix that, there CANT be anything wronge with GOW...Ever.

Combos are simple button mashing inputs. R1, R1, R1, R2. Since you can’t attack with the shield up, Holding shield buton + R1 results in a different cooldown ability. You have to let go of L1 and then attack. Input bufferering and performance dips sometimes leads to incorrect timed attacks.

This is a completely different God of War from what we have been used to. Tons of details and variances in terms of lore, upgrades, combat. The controls do take a little getting used to, not because they are different but because there is just so much going on in there. R1 Light attack,R2 Heavy attack, L1 Shield, L1+R1 Axe goes flying, L1+R2 Axe goes flying and freezes enemies and to add to that there are other combinations of Runic attacks (which are super awesome btw) with L1R1 and L1R2 and L1+X. So there's too much to remember when you start off. My first couple of hours with the game i kept on aiming my axe when i was supposed to take out the shield to parry. But the combat itself is to die for. I dont think I am ever going to get bored of throwing the axe and calling it back. The melee attacks feel very heavy and intense plus the added difficulty makes the combat more challenging. I am playing on the "Give Me a Challenge" difficulty mode and you have to very careful with your combos and evade timing. In the vert first fight sequence i got killed around 10 times and just as i was about to crank down the difficulty I was able to get through the first wave and have been playing at the same difficulty level since then.

You obviously need some pills old man :p

Im playing on Give me god of War. Even encounters with basic enemies draggggg on. You die in 2-3 hits and they take forever to die and keep rehealing. I dont think Ive even dodged this much in From Software games lol

Lol. I think it has less to do with my memory and more to do with me getting use to the control scheme.

Na Kar yar. Give me god of war is suicide !!! Nope nadda cant do :p Btw you do know you cant change the difficulty level once you start of with this mode. If you knew that and still started of with that mode, you have got some balls man.
