That was the implication when the last game ended. Anyone following the Gears story would already know this.

Uhh Gears 4 had playable female character. This wont be the first time.
Gears Judgement also had a female playable character in SP. Heck, if you play Gears 3 in co-op, you can play as a female character in the story (the one voiced by the same lady who voices Chloe in Uncharted).

No matter how redundant the games cover system gets, Gears will always be special for me. I simply just love this franchise.

This exaggerated snap to wall from a distance cover mechanic is getting really really old.
While this has very little significance in the campaign mode, this is a real skill to behold in MP matches. A little miscalculation and you end up rolling which is suicide especially in close combat.

Yeah, that's wall bounce, but the distance was never this exaggerated. Presumably, this is a character-specific ability that increases the distance from which you can slide into cover, but it looks hilarious.

[h=1]Gears 5 Won't Have A Season Pass or Gear Packs and All Maps Are Free[/h]

Microsoft revealed some exciting new footage from Gears 5 at its E3 2019 conference, but it looks like The Coalition aren't quite done with announcing its plans for the upcoming Gears of War title. Notably, the game is apparently going to get rid of season passes, gear packs, and the team is making all DLC maps free.
The team behind Gears 5 has announced that it's overhauling the way that it delivers in-game content to players. Itis one of our most anticipated video games of 2019, and these changes that appear to work to address RNG in real-money purchases and uncertainty from players in earning content are a positive step forward. These content changes don't stop at removing season -passes, though.

The
official Gears 5 website has just released a guide to how players can expect to earn content in the franchise's latest installment. The most notable changes to the content plan are a lack of Season Passes, the removal of Gear Packs, and the fact that DLC maps will be free for players to access regardless of whether it's for public matchmaking or just personal use. There's also a new Tour of Duty system being introduced as a way for players to earn content — this system is going to incentivize players to complete specific in-game challenges for corresponding customization rewards, and these challenges will change each season. Playing game modes like Escape and Versus will also provide you with opportunities to earn content, and all the time that you spend in multiplayer will rack up towards earning you a free Supply Drop of items that can't be bought with real money.

While it's not a complete departure from microtransactions, what Gears 5 is doing with its approach to content is arguably a step in the right direction. It's good that the traditional mechanic of gambling on content with in-game currency is being eliminated here; all purchases made by players of premium content have been termed 'direct' purchases by the team behind the game. This means that you'll know exactly what cosmetic item you're purchasing when you spend cash. Ensuring that pay-to-win mechanics aren't preyed upon or exploited by those with the financial resources to hoard in-game currency is another positive measure that will keep the playing field level in multiplayer.

It's likely that the Gears 5 team is going to give us more information about how these content changes will work in practice the closer we get to the game's September 10 release date. The Tour of Duty mode seems especially comprehensive so we're expecting more about how it functions, and Gears 5 does love flashy trailers when
announcing big-ticket news items. There's also going to be a technical test on July 19, so you can look forward to if you're keen to sink your teeth into the latest of what The Coalition has to offer.

[h=1]Gears 5’s technical test begins on July 19[/h]

You can start your download on July 17

The fifth numbered game in the Gears of War franchise, Gears 5, won’t be out until Sept. 10. Players will have the chance to check out some parts of the game early thanks to the game’s technical test. The test will let people check out the game’s multiplayer features, and it opens on July 19.
The technical test will include a variety of versus modes from Gears 5’s multiplayer, including Escalation, the game’s competitive mode; Arcade, a new, more casual gametype; King of the Hill; and a Bootcamp mode designed to help new players get up to speed before they face off against other players online. The test will also include a special set of in-game challenges called Tour of Duty, which will let players unlock a cosmetic banner that they will be able to use when the full game is released. Similarly, there will be challenges to unlock three unique weapon skins as well.
Access to the technical test will be available to any Xbox Game Pass subscriber or any Gears 5pre-order customer. The test will be available to download for all eligible players on July 17. The technical test will open on July 19 at 1 p.m. ET and will run until July 21. The test will then reopen on July 26 at 1 p.m. ET and stay open until July 29.

[h=1]How Gears 5’s Arcade mode works, and why it’s important[/h]

What you need to know heading into the technical test

The technical test for Gears 5starts Friday for those who pre-ordered the game and for subscribers to the Xbox Game Pass. With it comes an all-new game mode called Arcade. Polygon sat down with Ryan Cleven, The Coalition’s multiplayer design director, to chat about the design goals and what fans of the franchise should expect when they boot the game up for the first time on Xbox One.
Traditionally, the Gears of War franchise has had a very different style of gameplay from other multiplayer shooters. There’s the cover elements, of course, but stylistically the game relies on close-quarters engagements more than some others. Arcade is intended to ease in fans of multiplayer shooters who just might not otherwise be ready for that.
“‘Gears is that kind of game that, whenever I go into it, I get shotgunned in the face and I don’t know why,’” Cleven said, mimicking the complaints of a traditional FPS player. “Arcade is an experience that might be more familiar to you, as well as being something that players who have played the series their whole life will also enjoy.”
Cleven describes Arcade mode as a combination between a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive-style weapon buying system and a more traditional hero shooter like Overwatch. Before a match, players will be able to take on the role of one of several iconic characters, including Marcus Fenix, and an assortment of comparable locust enemies. Each one will have their own different loadout, their own passive ability, and a weapon tree.

The Coalition/MicrosoftEach one will also have an associated bounty, which provides a bonus for playing to type. Kills and bounties will earn skulls, which can be cashed in to advance up a given character’s weapon tree. Skulls carry over after death, and upgrades can be purchased at any time. Videos show players leaving cover with one weapon and arriving in front of the enemy with a completely different weapon, so expect bluffing to play a key role in the evolution of each match as players feel each other out.
“With Gears 5 we feel comfortable that we’ve proven ourselves,” The Coalition’s Cleven said, “and we want to make our own mark on [multiplayer] and do a bit of a departure from what Gears has traditionally done, and this really manifests inside Arcade, which is to try to de-emphasize just the singularly shotgun play to bring about a much more diverse combat experience.”
In the end, this is a test after all. Arcade mode might not be for everyone, especially fans of the traditional double-tap style of shotgun play or the new Escalation game type that is the hallmark of high-level play. But Cleven and his team are hoping fans give it a try regardless.
“If you’re a campaign player and you hate PvP, this mode isn’t going to convince you to love PvP,” he said. “It’s our take on a hero shooter [that still relies on Gears’] core of intimate violence.”
The Gears 5 tech test starts July 19 at 10 a.m. PDT and goes until July 22 at 10 a.m. PDT. A second technical test begins on July 26 at 10 a.m. PDT and runs through July 29 at 10 a.m. PDT. Expect status updates throughout the test on social media, and on the official website.Gears 5 arrives for Xbox One and Windows PC on Sept. 10.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
