If you have to count on your opponents to not do anything to play with a hero, I think it defines that hero pretty well lol... I for one hate jungling lycan... Anyone with any sort of game sense will make it impossible for him to feel safe whole farming... Laning is much better with a babysitter

I think jungling is probably the safest way to guarantee farm as long as they don't have a bh or bloodcyka. Laning is an option but that means you're relying on your support to actually play properly, which is too much to expect at my current MMR. I would rather just rely on my enemy being bad.

Jungling Lycan is not as fast in the early stage as it used to be because the wolves have low HP and the Mana cost is too damn high. Also going jungle Lycan is very greedy meaning you expect others to win their lanes.
Though I have jungled Lycan a lot but I believe it's better to lane with him in the current meta
1. Experience from NC was greatly reduced in the previous patches.
2. His 2nd spell is great for your mid laner especially if it's SF and for supports during ganks.
3. If left un attended he will definitely take down your T1 tower.
4. He gains more farm and levels while in the lane. Once he is 6-7, he can start jungling and allow supports to gain some levels instead.

He's still extremely fast once you have level 3 wolves. I'm not sure but from my experience, even enigma isn't as efficient AFTER the 6 minute mark. You need to sucide once to be efficient otherwise you'll be stuck with a 10 minute vlad or something. And I've played games when 2 out of three lanes failed. Only mid was drawing even but after I took rosh, lycan's incredible pushing power came into play.
1) As I said, you just need to surcide in jungle once to be efficient.
2) Lycan's lane presence is horrible and in my opinion his third spell is too good early on to not max it and wolves first. Besides you only make use of W when pushing and that doesn't happen until you have rosh.
3) The same is possible if you start in jungle.
4) What if the offlaner is something like a timbersaw? He'll just tear apart the lane supports once you leave. Moreover I don't like to jungle after level 6 or 7. You can easily farm heroes or towers. Jungling after 10 minutes is a waste of potential pushing power IMO.
I'm not asking to max his 2nd spell, just one point is enough. At lvl 1, it gives you +20 damage to all heroes on the map which is like a free phase boots. Heroes like SF and Invoker who have low base damage can really benefit from this. Using W while jungling is not efficient since you are already low on mana.
When jungling, I do agree with the fact that you need to suicide at least once as it saves more time. Just make sure you have already bought everything up. Moreover, if you are going the jungling route anyway, I prefer picking up clarity potions over tangos/salves.
Leaving the lane for your supports is never bad, supports needs the levels and some cruicial gold to make necessary items like mech and force staff so it never hurts. Also I believe Lycan isn't you Macho Randy Savage hero that can just go in and do anything he likes, for that a BKB is a must. Instead, he should focus on split pushing and farming. He is one of those heroes that can easily exchange for 2 towers while the enemy team is busy taking one tower.
I guess I misunderstood your point earlier. You summed up the strengths of the hero well enough but I still believe that jungling is far more efficient as it gives guaranteed farm.
Lycan is not the best teamfight hero but at level 11-12 he can manfight just about any hero 1v1. But I do agree that pushing is his main strength.

Is anyone else still facing the high ping problem? my ping on sgp-1.valve.net is around 140 but when in-game, it becomes 240+. Can anyone provide an explanation as to why is this happening?
+1 to that even tho pinging to sgp servers gets me ~80ms but in game its never below 200.
