Without going into too much detail about the figures of performance, i am always impressed the way Remedy devs optimise the games for PC. Alan Wake and Quantum Break are pretty darn well done games, in my opinion.

Considering that gameplay is roughly similar to all of it's previous games, i am not too worried about the performance impact. Besides, i have played most of the games on my GTX780 (Non Ti) and while it's one of the shittiest performing GPU at the moment, it does the job nicely.

An RTX 2070 should probably do the same at ~25fps or so. Either CBR4K or RT Medium give you 30fps.
The only concern then being that 5700XT is a $399 gpu without the added cost of the ray-tracing hardware lol

PS5/Scarlet games still resorting to faux-K would be quite embarrassing imo. I still think native 4K will be prioritized.

As far as next-gen workloads are concerned, there are many options to work with. Not every light source has to have a ray-traced path, for instance.
Which led to the lowly/cheap/hybrid implementations I was talking about.

What's $399 today might cost less in a year and a half. Plus, console manufacturers buy these chips at lesser rates. That said, both the ps5/Scarlett may still end up retailing at $500.

As little as I care about ray-traced GI/reflections, I'd rather have those over native 4K. In conjunction with HDR, that would be a bigger "game changer" as you put it lol.

Some implementations of CBR/temporal injection have worked pretty well on ps4 pro. For those looking for native 4K, there's PC.

The production and manufacturing has to be done much earlier as well. You're also assuming that the PS5/Scarlet will be based on a variant of 5700XT and not the less capable 5700. Its also possible that the consoles get an even stripped down version of the 5700 in terms of clock speeds and compute units.

I also put OLED technology for HDR and native resolutions as my preference. Your preferences still fall short of that. A $2000 investment in an OLED HDR TV running sub-4K games is a disappointment, as I'd put it lol

It may well be a 5700 Pro variant. Depends entirely on the ps5/scarlet's planned retail price and how big a loss they're willing to take per console sold at launch.

IIRC, ps4's production went in full swing sometime after the console was announced in Feb 2013. At the time, they weren't even sure if their suppliers would be able to meet their required supply of RAM. So, there's still some time before ps5 specs are locked.

I am very interested in how people will react to control. It is a Remedy game through and through..meaning I really think this game is going to divide some opinions - but to people who invest time and "getting" the game, they will love it...but that's just how I see it, and I am too close to it at this point.

Say No to Epic Store.
Hear Hear, Epic exclusivity has killed the hype for this game for me. Wont be supporting Remedy by buying this.
this is super interesting...So PC gamers are even more "platform" loyalists than console gamers. I remember when the arguments were about being an "Xbot vs Ps4 fan boy" now its between launchers :D

but as I said, get the game on consoles ..or wait one year for steam version - you guys have options

u r using somthing from over 10years u expect people to leave it for 1game.

everyone wants all their library to be at same place.

and we have no 1 pirate chandoo here lol

- - - Updated - - -

same like the division... the division 2 sold more copies on uplay than epic lol.

But it's not like the Xbox/PS. Steam is straight up better than epic launcher now ain't it?

There are points that others have put up but I think regional prices also play a role in people buying stuff on one platform or the other, steam has pretty good regional prices which is apparently absent on epic store, making people from countries with lower economies buy the game at full price which at least I do not like and I am sure there are other people who feel the same. The game had my interest from the beginning and looks pretty good as well (the release/public version), I'll probably wait for it to come out on steam though.

Lmao your comment really shows your lack of knowledge about us "Platform Loyalists", I guess you don't know how hard buying legit PC games was in Pakistan before steam and that its more convenient to keep all your games on one launcher.

Steam vs Epic Launcher isn't even a competition if it was Epic wouldn't need to bribe for Exclusives. Epic launcher doesn't even have cloud saves Lmao such a basic feature how am I supposed to transport my save from my PC to Laptop?

Khair what can i say which hasn't been said before I haven't Pirated a game for a long time but since this 1 year exclusivity Has started to become too common I might start again cant dodge spoilers for 1 year. Its clear Devs only care about the money instead of their customers so I cant support something I don't believe in, So not giving them my money is the only way I can protest.

This is super misinformed and you're showing a basic lack of understanding about the platform.

A more accurate example of steam vs egs comparison will be comparing the PS4 to Soulja boy console

Well it seems like I hit a nerve :) - I will explain with regards to the points I think that are being made

.
lol..I would say that you are giving my comment less credit than due, think about the point I am trying to make

Also, why wouldnt I know ? I was born and lived nearly all my life till adulthood in Pakistan..Ofcourse I know how difficult it is/was.

Okey so the question is not about is steam better or epic game store is better...What I am saying is please do look at the other side of the coin..Naturally Steam has had years to mature the platform and is simply better in terms of features. However, by not supporting Epic in trying to offer competition, we are basically in "apney paon per kulhari marna" situation. You are doing Valve's job for them.

The reason why today you feel that Steam is such an awesome platform - is because they developed features for it - which Epic is trying to match or improve.

For example Epic's roadmap is here : https://trello.com/b/GXLc34hk/epic-games-store-roadmap - one thing they talked about is how they want to develop and improve on Steam features i.e they talked about a thread based forum structure like reddit rather than how steam forums are now.

I think this polygon article summed up everything pretty well : https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/5/18295833/epic-games-store-controversy-explained

In due time and in the longer run, it will result in offering consumers better choice. The reason why game devs are even talking with Epic (since Steam has a huge fanbase) is because giving Valve 30% ( THIRTY PERCENT) for nothing but digital distribution is ludicrous. Competition will force Steam to play ball, which is a win win for both game devs and gamers.

This doesnt mean that I am saying Epic and Steam are a match today, what I am saying is that if people keep ONLY supporting Steam, there is a decent chance that there wont be anyother to offer them competition.

There are points that others have put up but I think regional prices also play a role in people buying stuff on one platform or the other, steam has pretty good regional prices which is apparently absent on epic store, making people from countries with lower economies buy the game at full price which at least I do not like and I am sure there are other people who feel the same. I really hope that Pakistan would receive the benefit soon :
