Has Remedy ever heard of quality assurance (or I should say quality control)? This is one of the worst performing games this gen.

Let's see if these hitches are something Remedy addresses in forthcoming patches.

OG PS4 is a surprisingly bad version, though XBO seems to run the game without v-sync (causing tearing) which probably helps it in the performance department.

Yep, though if I play this on PC instead of the Pro, I'm 99.9% sure I'll be locking it to 30 FPS cause I know for a fact my PC won't be able to get 60 FPS on this without gutting every setting to the lowest.

lol check some benchmarks, you absolutely do not have to gut everything to the lowest to get 1080p60 on your laptop. Maybe switch off MSAA thats about it.

i m playing on 4k.. medium with gtx 1070 amp extreme locked my fps on 40.


dunno first 1hr wasnt exciting at all.

and yes occasional stutters are bad all remedy games are like that in start.

Currently Target and Amazon are offering the console version at a discount in a price matching deal.

Remedy is working on a performance patch for consoles:

“Right now, the team are [sic] looking at possible ways of improving console optimization in Control, but as you can hopefully understand, these things do take time and don’t happen at the press of a button (as much as we wish they did),” 505 Games producer Antonela Pounder wrote on the game’s official blog.

So the reception and love is better than I expected. I knew the game is fun and good, however as I said previously, I was/still am too close to it, to judge it properly.

If you search twitter, reddit and other forums, people are really are enjoying the game.

The biggest positives trends we noticed
+ Our lighting and visuals
+ Our RTX usage
+ The huge font that pops up, when you go to a new area ( this was much debated and I am super happy we went with a bold choice like that)
+ The story and narrative - and the world building
+ Metroidvania style and new explorable areas hidden all around
+ Shooting and gameplay mechanics
+ Destruction and physx

The negative trends
- Performance on base PS4
- High PC requirements
- Epic story exclusivity
- no crouching system


Some "nor-here-nor-there"
- most boss battles are not part of main storyline
- alot of world building is in documents and audio tapes
- animations - have heard both sides of it
- Crouch button is "unusual"
