Apex Legends has its first new gun: Havoc. The rifle uses energy ammo and includes a few interactions with the game’s pre-existing mods.
Developer Respawn Entertainment first teased the weapon Tuesday in a video that gave us a brief glimpse of how it might work. Now that we can see the whole thing in action, it appears that the rifle has a brief spin-up time to reach its top rate of fire. It’s similar to the energy light machine gun, Devotion.
In a minutelong video, Respawn previewed the gun’s different forms. Havoc can fire in full auto by default and uses energy ammo. But with the Selectfire Receiver mod, you can switch Havoc to a single-shot variant that acts like a sniper rifle. This charge beam is hitscan — meaning the shot has no travel time in the game. The second mod is the Turbocharger, which also works with the Devotion. This mod will remove the rev-up time for Havoc, and let it fire at top speed by default.
Like all Apex weapons, Havoc comes with new skins to find in Apex Packs. The gun can appear on the ground or in boxes around Kings Canyon. It’s available now in the game on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.

Lol yeah I downed a couple of peeps and was literally this close to downing the 3rd one with the peacekeeper. That weapon is freakin OP man. I love it.

Apex Legends partnered with Twitch Prime to give players Apex packs and an exclusive skin, but it turns out you don’t actually need Twitch Prime to get the rewards in-game on PC.
Players have discovered that by opening the game’s settings in Origin on PC, they can edit the advanced launch options. If the command, “+twitch_prime_linked 1” is added, Apex Legendswill reward players with the five free Apex packs and the legendary Pathfinder skin the next time the game is opened.
This was first pointed out by Twitter user, Adam_THR and is likely an unintended interaction inside of Origin. Any player that hasn’t already linked their Origin account with a Twitch Prime account could do this, but there’s no way to know if EA will take action against accounts that do. Unlocking the rewards this way, rather than through Prime, would be taking the safety of your account into your own hands. You’ve been warned.

I dont know why but i really suck at this game. Have played around 50 odd matches and none of them tend to get better for me. And its not like I dont enjoy this game, I really like the game mechanics and I have really enjoyed my time with the game. Its just that I end up with no more than a single game (or no kill at all) in pretty much every game. I dont really suck at FPS games online infact I am pretty decent at Destiny's MP. I guess this is not meant for me or I'll have to try harder at it.

If you guys want to have a little bit of an easier time, play as Wraith. Her unique skill will let you phase shift which avoids all damage for a few seconds. It's good for getting out of firefights or getting to safety if you're getting shot and you don't know where from.

Your skill isn't the issue. There's some fun to be had in these games but the novelty wears off pretty quickly, 2-3 rounds at max, and Apex is no different in that regard. Map design is mediocre as well. Becoming a "champion" with 1-2 kills is hardly my idea of fun.

Update (Feb. 26): Respawn has updated Apex Legends to solve this exploit on PC. The studio revealed on Twitter that the new patch will remove the exclusive Omega Point Pathfinder skin from the accounts of all players who didn’t link their Twitch Prime account and earn it as originally intended.

Map design is mediocre as well

This pretty much sums up my main issue with the game. It almost looks like something hurriedly put together in a level editor. Plus, it doesn't help that it's the only available map.

That's not to say there aren't copy-pasted sections found in maps from other BR games, but it seems like more of an issue here.

Have you ever heard the tale of Cassandra, the oracle who kept revealing true prophecies, only to have no one believe her? That story’s been updated for a modern age, with Reddit user hiticonic taking on that tragic role. Hiticonic shared the map of Apex Legends 11 months in advance of the game’s official reveal, and he was greeted with scorn and boos for his efforts.
“Alleged Minimap for Rumored Titanfall Battle Royal game,” hiticonic’s thread on theTitanfall subreddit from last April, contained an image of a map for what would later be revealed as Kings Canyon. The user added no context, however, and received few responses in return.
But if you’re familiar with Apex Legends, you can tell that this strange leak was accurate, even though there have been a few tweaks to it before the game’s reveal and launch.

Not only was his thread seriously downvoted, but the top response was, “I really hope this doesn’t happen.” (That commenter has since apologized for his hubris, writing, “I have put too much time into this game so far, my prejudice was very wrong.” He also added, “You should see my inbox lmao.”)



Some users went so far as to call hiticonic a fake in their original thread, suggesting that hiticonic was creating fictional maps for Reddit upvotes. You would think that the release ofApex Legends would vindicate them in the eyes of his peers, yet the top comment once again casts doubt on hiticonic.
“/u/hiticonic is a mod here,” writes the venerable Awoo—. “HMMMMMMMM,” he adds. “I smell intentional leaks from the dev team. I’m onto you.”
But Respawn is an active participant in the Titanfall and Apex Legends communities, and the studio affirmed the leak in a reply from community manager JayFresh_Respawn.
“Haha I remember this!” he wrote. “It was a relief to see folks blow it off and I was thinking, ‘well, he’ll be able to say I was right when next year comes along.’
Part of Apex Legends’ wild success is the fact that the game came out of seemingly nowhere. Influencers and streamers were invited to play it over an exclusive weekend, and that kicked off the hype wave that has led to the game cultivating a healthy player base. Maybe its for the best that hiticonic’s leak landed like me on the supply ship, which is to say: extremely badly.

I think there is room in the world for both The Division 2 and Apex to exist at the same time
