Hi Guys,
I own the Onkyo HT-S5600 7.1 Home Theater system. I've had this over 2 years now and absolutely love the sound.
However the amp is now starting to develop 2 major problem which is pushing me to either get it repaired or buy a new Amp. The Amp model that came with the HTIB is Onkyo HT-R592
Problem 1: Subwoofer volume/punch drop
I've noticed that after turning on the amp the subwoofer sounds perfect. It is loud and punchy but after a while (between 5-30 minutes of listening or even just sitting idle) I will hear a 'click' sound of a relay from the amp and the bass would suddenly get muffled. The sub woofer would no longer be as loud and punchy, but just sound flat. This issue is only resolved after the amp is turned off for a while (hours) and then turned on. I can not pin point why the relay would click as it happens totally randomly (playing loud audio, playing loud bass, playing only treble, playing low volume and not even playing any audio at all). There is no timeframe either, it would sometimes be fine for hours or just muck up within minutes of switching on.
Problem 2: HDMI passthrough displays red lines/rain affect on the image
This is very recent, my AV receiver HDMI passthrough is acting up. There are red lines going through the image, there is sometimes heavy rain on the image or no image at all. I've tried everything to fix this issue from switching HDMI ports to changing HDMI cable and source. Nothing helps. I notice that Amp menu displays fine but if it has to display full screen image (black background and menu such as using the Audessye EQ) the screen does not display any image. This started happening slowly, I noticed this few months ago but restarting and reconnecting the cable fixed the issue. However since I moved to a new house and I moved my amp with me (delicately in its own packing) the issue is now permanent. I've resolved this temporarily by connecting 2 HDMI from my GPU (GTX 970), one goes to the TV and the other goes to the Amp for audio. I have to keep it as duplicate displays in windows so I can chose the AMP as the main audio source. This is obviously not the best solution.
Please recommend me what to do? I don't want to spend a lot so would rather have it repaired if the job can be done perfect. Can you guys recommend me someone in Lahore who can repair this without charging an arm and a leg and also knows what he's doing?
Can you also provide some 7.1 (atleast) amps for me to chose from if I plan to replace this?
