[NHT] Computer hangs during game

hey guys

as the title says i am having problem when playing BF:BC2 i have not tried any other game but other which i have are not as demanding i think,

i am running the game for more than a year and it was working perfect but last week it started to give problems random CTDs, then i updated my graphics drivers and that sorted out the random crashes but now the computer hangs,

i ran the stability test on furmark all settings enabled and the also started gpu-z for temprature monitoring and both programms show a maximum of 84C but that only under furmark test, when plaing the game the card doesnt go over 72C

i cannot run out of ram have got 6gigs and thats plenty to spare

check my specs underneath the avatar and help in finding the problem

P.S. i also put the side cover back on, before it had a fan infront of gpu but now its the moded acrylic without any fan, could that be causing the high temperature

EDIT: Just found out that my case isnt properly earthed, my GPU gave me little shock when i touched it, ram processor and other devices are fine. Is this Normal

run prime95 too for atleast 1 hour..if u hv overclocked any thing then revert to stock

Do you play Online? I was experiencing the same issue a few days ago, It was something to do with PunkBuster, Updated it and now i can play whole day long without any crash.

@faheem: just increased the momory clock to 1066 but i have done that for a very long time and that never gave any kind of problem

@hms1193: PB is already up to date so are the display drivers and the game obviously

check to see if the capacitors on the mainboard have bulged/ look fat from top
or you maybe have PSU issues, try another PSU on your PC

idk about the psu cause its a 450W and thats enough for the card i have, i will have a look at the capacitors tomorrow morning.

a couple of times when the my ping goes 999 the game kinda hangs as well but after a few seconds it restores or sometimes crashes can that be the culprit or could there be a hard disk issue like less page memory or something, i got a BSOD today

didnt u touched the capacitors of gpu coz they hold current....if not then it is something to worry about coz i touched many gpuz running and didnt got earth shock...even i do work in my case when power cord is plugged to switch

no not the capacitors the backside where the micro resistors and solder points are but i just touched the corner and buzzz,

will have to take down the whole computer and refit it with some insulation i guess, probably around the PSU because my wires are sleeved properly so it cannot be a wire earthing with the case

i had the same problem in the past with bc2.all games were running fine but while playing bad company 2 screen turned black pc hanged and i had to restart pc.i tried lot of things but nothing worked.then i redownloaded game from steam and reinstalled it.the problem was solved.first of all play other heavy games to see if they give problem like bc2 or not.if other games also give problem then it may b hardware problem.and if they run fine then it is problem with ur game.so first of all u should try this

Try reverting the clock to stock...may be it had enough of what it can handle

I was running the ram OCed 24/7 with the ram cooler but the problem stopped when i brought it to stock clock

Problem solved close thread please
