Aoa guys,

I've been looking to buy a new HDTV ever since i got my Ps3 here but im not entirely sure about which one to get. I've looked at both Samsung and Sony (not really into LG, although i wouldn't mind a Vizio one but can't find those) and im still speculating which one to get.

So here's the thing my room is some what small so i only really need a 32" TV. I've looked at the samsung LA-32B350 model which has a really nice design but read some bad reviews on the net. Something to do with a capacitor and it leaking and the tv not turning on.

So i checked out some Sony TV's and the one tht i relly like is the 32EX400
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sony-KDL32EX400/13812460

Good quality and its 1080p its for 60,000PKR here.

So aside from all that ranting i was hoping for those people who have a samsung 32" to give me some reviews and i was wondering if its worth getting a 1080p at 32" or should i stick with the 720p 32" because im not sure at that size if there is going to be a significant difference. Simply breaking it down:

Samsung 32B350: 49,500PKR
Sony 32Ex400: 60,000 PKR
Sony 720p 32": 54,000 PKR

so which one is worth getting? Thank you in advance :D

the smuggled ones you mean? Im not too into those as they always have some sort of problem with them. The thing is with electronics like this im hesitant on buying second-hand and being w/o a warranty but i will check out China Market thank you for the advice brother.

Although you won't notice much of a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 32' screen when you're gaming (since 99.9% of the games run at 720p anyway), you MAY notice some quality improvements when you're watching Blu-Ray movies. So the question is this. Are you willing to spend more on getting a very minor upgrade? When I was buying an HDTV around a year ago, I was going through the same dilemma as you. In the end, I decided to go with a 1080 though. I was very happy with it, but then my friend got a 720 and to be honest, I could hardly tell a difference. So really, it's up to you.

Then again, I checked the prices you quoted and realized the 1080p is 8k more than the 720p. I guess that isn't TOO much more for a small upgrade. I would personally get the 1080p in that case. However again, do remember that the upgrade is small and if you are short on cash, you may as well get the 720. Who quoted you those prices though? A Sony center? I know the 720ps are for 54k, but had no idea Sony also had a 1080 available at 32'.

Anyway, DO NOT get an LCD here without a warranty. Avoid deals that sound 'too good to be true.' Trust me, you'd rather have a 32' with a good warranty and customer service than a 42' screen that could just randomly blow up (especially with all the load shedding in our beloved country).

i bought that 32" Sony Bravia HDTV for 54k... working fine here...i hav been running HD movies over it and it really awesome picture quality... I dont think any1 would like to go beyond that quality for soo much price difference... \cable on it has very soft pic... resolution not very good but even a Full HD wont help u in that...
they gave me a 2 year warranty as well... i used it with UPS... and very low power consumption.. almost 99Watts...

I would agree with deltree that do not buy HDTV without warranty. 32" seems good, I believe that the sony 32" bx300 is for 48,500/= on some worldcup soccer deal at some places in lahore. Plus sony is offering a 1+1= 2 years warranty.

For a 32" the difference between a 720p or 1080p is very minute, So don't worry about that. As far as your 3 choices are concerned don't get the samsung it's built in tv tuner sucks and the brightness levels are very low, I got it a few months ago for 35k from a wholesaler lol, costed 50k at the time. I would recommend you get a Sony or Samsung 4-5 Series. As far warranty is concerned I don't worry a lot about it, All my three TVs are without warranty and working excellent. Also getting them repaired is pretty easy if you know the where to take it to.

Thanks for all the info everyone :D

Well i got those prices from the Sony Center the 1080p 32" one is limited stock then have but its only 6k more for an upgrade to 1080p.

They got a new model in with build-in USB-support which is why the 720p ones are 54k. Just wondering if i did get one without a warranty (which i might avoid since i don't trust stores here) where can you get these things fixed?

Also would it be better for me to just import one from the US?

importing one from the us would be very expensive...when alienware imported his 32 lcd frm uk it cost him 289 pounds shipping charges and 800 somthing pounds tax...ur best bet wud be sony centre or friends corporation

you have to keep another thing in mind if importing from US that they run on 110v and we here use 220v. that would probably mean adding a converter to the tv for it to accept 110v which means instability specially when theres so much load shedding here in pak

Alan wake 2 is yet to recover it's development costs. Due to no physical release and no steam launch.
You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
