take my advice... dont think!! just act!!! get a drill machine n get going haha!! seriously yaar... socho mat aur kar daalo... if its an old spare casing its not gonna go any worse...!!! get my point!!!
well ok.. first thing you need to decide is wheter u wanna mod for practicality or just to show off ( some call it being "passionatley creative") kher first u need to decide tht... as its very important as to wht all ur gonna put into ur case... like does ur system heat up alot... then u wud need lots of cool air blowing in ( fans ) and how ur exhaust system work... (fans again) thts going cheap... can go with liquid cooling though
kher yaar theres another dilemma when u say case mod ; i wonder putting liquid cooling kit qualifies for it.. cos it has nothign to do with ur case... does it??
i mean u mod the case by changing the dimensions n the look n feel of ur ACTUAL case.. not wht u got inside of is it am i right...
so u can start with acrylic sheets ( the basics i believe n the simplest way to change the look of ur case ), if u rip off most of ur side panels then u defintely wud have to for a paint job...
ohhh ok ok it just hit me... how to cut fan holes!!! right!?! ok here's wht i did... first i got fans!! lol just playing...
mark the area which u wanna take off from the sheet... next take a compass n attach a sharp blade onto it... n engrave the marked area(i did this with my acrylic sheets) this wud leave it engraved not cut ONLY engraved!!! now there are two ways to proceed further...
1) u have the marked area engraved right? now u take a drill machine a in tht marked area newhere just drill a hole. then u can use a small chainsaw - dont know wht it is called but it looks very similar to tht but the blade infront is very sharp n not tht fatal haha i mean looking at it wont give u the creeps but it is sharp... u run tht blade thru the hole u just drilled n then carefully run it thru the marked area... ( now u know why we engraved it with the help of the compass attached to sharp blade... ur chainsaw blade wont slip on the sheet n just moved in the engraved marking - n WAALAAA uve got urself a fan hole!!! hows tht..
the other way is very desi n doesnt get u a clean look for the fan holes ( n i broke two of my acrylic sheets doing this )
2) after uve done the engraved marking... n if u dont have the tools like the chainsaw... just keep engraving the marking hard... n then drill hole in the area with the drill machine as many holes u can in tht marked area... after tht just hit it with a rubber hammer till tht area comes off ... totally desi sometimes it comes out good n sometimes it dont
