[SOLVED] Need Advice About Laptop Screen Repair

AOA!

I have a laptop HP dv6 7211tx (HP ENVY dv6-7211tx Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP(R) Customer Support).

Its screen is broken (display is fine, crack just visible from sideways).

So what should i do now?

1) Is is this repairable or i have to buy new replacement screen?
2) Get screen from local market? any idea how much it costs?
3) Buy online. (costs about 10k wth shipment)?
4) Sell this laptop as it is (how much would i get)?

Don't risk replacing a screen from local market with a genuine one. The crack is barely visible. I think you should keep the laptop as it is if it is fulfilling your requirements.
You can sell it but all the buyers would slash price to at least 40% just because it has a crack barely visible from sideways.

So keep the laptop and use it till it lasts if it has no visibility issues while working or watching movies.

Ok then I am planning to add a SSD drive and keep this one while it lasts. Though, I have heard that screens can be replaced from 6Th road RWP and they might offer some discount for this screen (don't know why they would do this). Worth a shot!

You should consider this that if you buy a screen from 6th road it would either be taken from another laptop (which might mean that it has already been repaired) or they would sell you chinese made lcd which would hardly last 6 months. Usually such things don't have any warranties and even if it does then it takes months to claim which is frustrating.

The choice is yours at the end of the day.

P.S another thing you could do is keep this lcd with you and buy a new one. In this way you'd be safe to put back in the old LCD if the new one fails.

Interesting, in that case i prefer not buy screen from local shop.


So this website Screen for HP Compaq ENVY DV6-7211TX. Replacement Laptop LCD Screens is offering warranty too. It would cost me ~86$.

I can replace screen and then sell it. and get myself some 4,5th generation laptop. :/

buy from amazon or any other trusted website, i am also looking for my lenovo y50-70`s screen
google it and you will find many threads and users pointing to some good screen replacements
gonna buy soon but first i need to find whether someone will replace it safely or not

get it replaced locally it's an old laptop, don't care so much cause it's value isn't much. also locally getting it fixed is ok. no problems at all

Its a surface crack only so wont bother you much. screens cannot be repaired but will require replacement. a new screen will cost a humongous amount and wont be a good option for you. getting a used screen would be bad choice as they are used and have no warranty.
would suggest to live with the cracked screen.

Yeah​, it does not bother much. But i am thinking to sell it after repair to get relatively good price. And then buy some next generation laptop.
