Just to let u have an idea i ordered a helicopter from amazon.com for 80$ which i got after a month with 7500rs custom duty which is more than the actual cost of the helicopter . they said its electronic item and dont care about the actual cost of the product. so i refused to accept it and they took it back.
imo dont get a laptop shipped to pak they will charge u a big amount for it which u will have to pay or say goodbye to ur laptop.

If someone can bring it for you, then its fine, else i think there is around 80 - 100% duty on laptop. (Unless you have an inside man)

My honest suggestion/opinion for you:

Get laptop from abroad but from that person who can bring to Pakistan like your friend, brother or relative. laptops prices in local market are too high then abroad. Pakistan customs will ruin your gadget I have very bad experience with them many times so don't waste your precious hard earn bucks on Pakistan POST.

Main thing the laptop you mention is good but its not for pure gaming.

If you can add $150 US more and can sacrifice with screen then i will suggest you get Alienware M14x 14" notebook. It have nvidia 555m gpu 1.5 to 3GB with nvidia optimus technology. when you don't gaming the GPU in alienware will not utilize so it will give you easily 4+ hours battery backup. check specs on alienware website. you can attach external lcd/led if you feel 14" is pretty less for you.

If you don't want to get alienware then get something like ASUS G53 or G73 gaming series or MSI GTR gaming series notebooks.Check out deals on amazon and on other websites like bestbuy.com for refurbished laptops. Even you can get ASUS G73 with core i7, 8GB DDR3 memory, 1TB hdd and beast AMD 5870 gpu refurbished unit in $900. Bro save your bucks spend once and you will be happy with your decision.

Just to share an experience my office mate bought dell inspiron 15.5" sandy bridge core i5, 4 gigs memory, 640GB, USB 3.0 ports and nvidia GT 525 gpu with optimus all this for 66k plus from local market. he got free Win 7 Professional key from shopkeeper coz his notebook came with DOS. yesterday we run assassins creed, call of duty modern warfare 4 and bunch of other old games on his notebook. All games work like charm without any single lag.

Now we will test GTA 4 and BFBC2

Its a matter of ones own choice. For me, 15-16" is the screen size that I prefer.
Since he mentioned he would be on the move, an external lcd would be useless. Also, he is getting a 9-cell battery in addition to the 6-cell one. That would be very helpful for being mobile.
He is getting a bluray player at that price but not in M14x (though I doubt he would be using it)
And the display is 720p on M14x.

Yes i know its a matter of choice I personally i don't like 14" i like 17.3" above. I just told him various options Alienware 14" ASUS G53 15.5" and ASUS G73 17.3" MSI also available in 16" and in other sizes but for the more size you go the portable chances are less. he can use lcd obviously when he is not moving No doubt more cell battery will give more backup. I know the display of m14x is 720p but see how much strong GPU they are offering. If i am not wrong GPU is the backbone of gaming. Every game depends on GPU. Anyway i just share my own experience and opinions no offense to any one.

@ Op, If you have freind or someone in abroad then tell him to get off it amazon and send to you and mark it as gift. No duty will cost upon you. This is the most good thing you can work out else it'll cost tripple of the original cost bro

DO you think they'll send it as a gift? If coolahmad is right this might be a choice. Apart from all this, the reason Im buying HP over Alienware and Asus G series is that I visit some financial organisations and Hp DV7t quad, gives a more business and elegant look. and its 1.3 inch thick compared to 3 inch Asus. And these factors are why I chose HP, other than the fact that its the best bang for buck out there.

AMD 6770 is better because it uses faster ddr5 memory and two of my friends are using it and playing all the games on max details .

shipping and marking the laptop as a gift is a risk because u never know the custom people . u can talk to the customer care guys if they will mark it as gift or not.

Thanks, I checked your link... the thing is that they show few game reviews of 6770m and many of 555m. So there is little to compare The confusion here is that which of the two would be better at future games, like MW3 or Crysis2, BFBC 3 etc??

With nvidia you will get more drivers updates. AMD don't give updates soon.

If you are getting GT 555 or 525M with Optimus then I will suggest get nvidia gpu coz with optimus you can get more battery timing when you are not gaming and not using heavy apps which utilize GPU.

for Homeshopping once i paid them in advance to import me a hp dv7 from ebay and they quoted me 85k after that they demanded 15k more for duty which they didnt tell me before so i demanded my money back and no response . it took me more than 2 months to get my money back .

I got a reply from HIDEVOLUTION They say they will ship it to Pakistan for $103. ANd as far as the duties are concerned,
1.they'll label the shipment as a sample or,
2. They'll label it as a gift or,
3. Under Invoice it
and it will attract zero or negligible duties.
U think the trick will work?
