As did I. Its a reasonable improvement. However, I only got info on what my package would be upgraded to, not all the packages (so I don't know if I want to switch to another one).

Any idea where I could look at the full list?

The email says that a new 30mbps package will be available on the website on 7th May, i guess that's when they'll update their website with all the new packages.

Nayatel is using fiber optic right? If so why don't they just give us like 50mb or at least 20mb unlimited and TOTALLY domnate the market? I literally never heard of a company that set limit for fiber internet, even if the limit was 1tb per month it's still stupid imo

Its an example of a perfectly monopolistic tyrant who is exercising greed and tyranny over its customer base. That's why the limits. No, actually it is related to how Nayatel utilizes its meager bandwidth allocation with maximum users. If all connections go unlimited, they will not be able to coup with the same bandwidth and thus will have to buy exponentially more. That will in turn make them lose profit.

Now as TES has landed and is now effectively taking pre-orders for Islamabad sectors (Nayatel's home ground). The Tyrant is thus facing a threat of unimaginable proportions... When the former is offering unlimited 30Mbps in the same envelope as their now 15Mbps package and even a 100Mbps top end package... With a back-haul network with two undersea cables and one in planning stage, Nayatel can't even hope to compete.

The tyrant is utilizing all it has to minimize the impending mass switch to the competitor. Unfortunately forums like us and news outlets have already spread enough information that almost everybody knows that TES can always deliver better packages than any other 2nd Tier ISP.

The fucking tyrant already has complete monopoly in Islamabad, no need to provide unlimited packages to do so. However, should the tyrant wish to expand its clawlike grip to areas like Lahore and Karachi, it will come face to face with other tyrants, whose tyranny has been mitigated by the God of Competition. Hence the tyrant will likely choose to remain restricted to areas where the God of Competition shows no presence. Its limited bandwidth will continue to starve us, and its paid technicians will continue to drain us of our lifeblood with every visit. Meanwhile, all of us are addicted to the sweet nectar the tyrant provides us with, and are unable to resist. But every once in a while a hero is born, much like ourselves, who decides to pop the blue pill, and sees the tyrant for what it really is. But alas! The tyrant simply increases the dose of the sweet nectar, and the effects of the blue pill are vanquished into the pits of doom.

You sound like a hero to me. Are you saying TES has plans to expand to Islamabad soon?

Because they can. No other ISP in Islamabad even comes close to the scale at which NayaTel has FTTH coverage in Pindi/Islamabad. If and when that changes, NayaTel will revise their packages to match their competitors.

They're only in DHA phase 1 & 2. In main Islamabad sectors, their parent company only serves corporate customers like NayaTel, Telenor etc

NayaTel started deployment of fiber infrastructure in the twin cities in 2006 whereas the rest didn't even start till 2-3yrs ago.

TES will be starting in F-6/F-7 and Blue Area soon. They are also registering interest in other sectors as well.

BTW just yesterday our remote of the HD Box went defective and Nayatel charged 1000 for replacement!

Because TSE/Optix/Stormfibre/PTCL etc are greedy bastards. They trick people like fpga123 into thinking they have unlimited bandwidth at their disposal, whereas the fact is that they offer unlimited high-speed broadband to at best 20-30 people in the twin cities compared to nearly 20,000 home users for Nayatel. When and if TSE is going to offer city-wide unlimited FTTH bandwidth, only then can we really Abuses will lead to ban about Nayatel.

LOL wow 2 sectors. Such blanket coverage.

So we have to wait another 10 years? Lol

Most probably forever. These companies are least interested in expanding.

Everybody has their own views, I am not here to change minds, only state what I know...

TES in comparison to any other ISPs in Pakistan (except PTCL) would relatively seem as having unlimited bandwidth no matter how you look at it. How many customers it serves, how much area it covers, I don't know nor do I care as far as they seem reasonable to me. When they deploy in my sector and they still remain reasonable to me, I will switch.

We cannot bend a company especially a private one to expand, just because we want it to expand. Even Nayatel scrapped Peshawar when they got to know that Cybernet with their Storm Fiber has such disruptive plans to cover almost half the city. Now Cybernet does have half the city covered and there is no sign of Nayatel anywhere in Peshawar.

Anyhow, NT today changed over to 20Mbps over at my residence. On average for ddl and torrents, its at the same 12Mbps speed while wildly resonating around it. Spikes also remain under 14Mbps. Seems that their network has reached its limit and was not ready to coupe with this sudden upgrade. But well could be just the initial rush towards experiencing the higher speeds, may calm down or may stick around just like the mobile carriers. Only time will tell.

To think that one company is greedy and the other's arent is naivety. They're all greedy, they're all businesses, they all want to maximize profit and minimize expenditure. Whatever services they've rendered aren't out of the goodwill of their hearts, but only to increase the customer base and make $$$. Does anyone honestly believe Nayatel personnel are simply more veracious and kinder than their PTCL counterparts? Obviously not. Their customer support (which is very good) was specifically designed to counter a major flaw with PTCL services. The fibre optic cabling possibly had similar ideas in its birth. To think otherwise is... well, what can I say?

The counter to corporate greed is competition. At this point Nayatel seems to have a very large head start. Cabling is a slow process as far as I'm aware, so it'll be a while before Nayatel is pressed to match some of the better ISPs out there (in terms of packages). I find these staunch arguments very amusing, its fairly obvious whats going on, lol. However any ISP is attempting to gain market, be it Nayatel's methods, or ISPs restricting themselves to smaller geographical areas to allow for more generous packages, its all in the name of profit.

Basically they're all tyrants, but many tyrants in the same room reduces the degree of tyranny because the tyrants are forced to fight amongst themselves as well. If we're stuck in a room with just one tyrant, that tyrant will gobble us up.

Probably the most impressive aspect of Nayatel would be their strategic insight to start fibre optic cabling back in 2006. The massive lead they've accrued will only serve to discourage would be competitors to start now. That they've expanded so much isn't impressive, its natural. They only had to beat PTCL. The more areas they encroached, the greater their profits, and the greater their resources to expand further. Money begets money.

The situation in Lahore seems different. Fibre optic ISPs are competing against other fibre optic ISPs. This is inordinately more difficult than acquiring PTCL customers. This is probably why we see geographical pockets covered by different ISPs.

They're all greedy. I'm amazed anyone would think they're not.
