Nayatel Cable Service Feedback?

Don't think it has been discussed before. Need to know how their Cable service is BEFORE taking a plunge and paying for the HD box/Smart box along with their internet services at long last , by Eid I reckon. (Digital Box - Nayatel) I ofcourse prefer HD, however their Channel list is not updated on site. I have contacted for a detailed list of HD/Digital channels however do need review from Nayatel cable users - whether or not its good. Had a bad experience with PTCL IPTV, picture wasn't all that clear, was not Digital/HD quality rather pixel-ated/grainish last I remember from 2 years ago.

The basic cable service is good. It's as clear as standard definition 480p video can be. Don't expect miracles.

The picture quality on SD channels won't be any better. The HD channels of course is an entirely different story.

We get Digital Cable although not from Nayatel but I believe the local operator does distribute theirs on the network ... anyways ... here are a few recordings made via a usb tuner (note that the TV has a builtin digital tuner that is superior to the usb one used, but, the TV doesn't support DVR functionality ... also the signal has been weak the past few days ... so):

Thanks for trying out! The answer is in a built-in DVB-C tuner for the TV! Cable here is currently without encryption! This might not be the case everywhere but most TVs (mostly European models) that support DVB-C also have a CI slot as well to use the "card" from the service provider in case of encryption.

The USB TV tuner stick costs around $20 on AliExpress ... drivers aren't that great for anything other than their own software on WinOS but still very usable!

Now I have installed nayatel and after tuning digital and hd channels are detected with names but no picture. It shows "scramble signal". Called their support and was told that I have to buy thier box to get digital and hd channels. It can't be done on my tv without their box as there is some card of nayatel installed in the box. Is there any way to get channels without the box?

Well, if they use encryption, then, one needs either the set top box with the card or the CI CAM card because I believe it won't be worth it breaking the encryption or accessing their internal network!

So I have to buy their smart box. Does nayatel smart box supports casting? I already have mi box 3. So will have to sell that if their smart box is like same as mi box 3.

Their Digital Box seems to be cheaper and straight forward, don't want to get the "Smart" one but I don't think it has got HDMI port, at least it does not show in installation clips by Nayatel. I also don't think their "Smart box" would be as good as something like Mi Box 3, performance wise that is.

As far as casting is concerned, you can double check with Nayatel support but as per information of their "Joy Boy", it does support "Miracast".

Apparently different, Joybox page says only available in Faisalabad. I guess a call to Nayatel will clear this up.

So installed hd smart box. Digital plus hd channels. Result is very good. VOD is free with smart box. They have some good collection which keeps on updating. Overall very satisfied. Time to watch worldcup in hd

lalay which sports channels are in hd and how many are there ? also do you have a 4k tv if so how is the result on that ive been thinking of buying it but cant really justify 10k for 1 box and not use it on other tvs in my house

Star sports select hd 1 and 2. Sony six, espn, and golf. Bein sports english 11,12,13. Eurosport 1 and 2. These are hd sport channels. Some other are digital like ten sports, geo super, star sports 1 and 2 etc. I don't have 4k tv but hd channels are 1080 i think so they will look good on 4k also. I doubt that in pakistan u can get 4k channels as of now. If u don't want vod service then u can go for digital box which is at discounted price of 3800 in Ramazan. It will show all digital plus hd channels. Difference is just vod service and some apps like youtube etc. Overall hd box is not of much benefit other then vod. But it gets the job done. Casting is not available. U can sideload android apps. But some are not supported. Netflix app doesn't work on hd box. U have to use it's browser to acess it. Personally I feel they could have given better box at this price just like mi box 3 with casting etc.

I have also bought the hd smart box... my live tv sercices have not activated dont know why. I told them that i will install it my self they agreed and hand me over the box and said that the service will be active in 2 hours... otherwise it would take 3 5 working days if i let the team to come and install the box... but still it is not active.. after contacting them they said that it is because a team is scheduled to visit they will verify something.... strange...

Overall box is good internet services are working fine. It has wifi but somehow works slow on wifi as compared to ethernet. Youtube live channles are not working on youtube app might be some sort of restrictions. But these channels are working on browser. The box plays 4k videos without any hickups. Ut has a quad core pricessor with 1gb ram and 8 gb rom.

Will try to force them to send the team tommorrow.

Recently Nayatel have launched Joybox and have discontinued HD smart box.
Previously Joybox was only available in Faisalabad but now in Rawalpindi / Islamabad as well.
Has anyone used their joybox? Howz the experience? Does it have access to playstore for additional apps unlike their HD smart box?

I would also like to know about the Joybox like if it's simply an android box with a tuner (connection via coax) or is it simply an android box with a custom app to decrypt encrypted ts streams ... if it's an app, maybe it can be extracted from a third party app if third party apps can be installed on the box ... more digging can then be done via wireshark!

Well, it turns out that there is a manual for it and all I had to do was to take a look at it:

And Nayatel is quite wary of anyone resetting it to Factory Defaults which would otherwise be a simple operation unless they have rooted it and messed with it ... didn't even pay for a proper firmware image to be developed for it ... anyways, it would be quite risky for someone to have this device installed inside their home! What they should have done instead is to release the Apps via Google Play Store in the proper manner ... greedy like always I guess!
