Moving to Karachi, which area is safe?

i'll be moving to Karachi, which area is SAFE? i have never been to Karachi before.
i'm from Islamabad will be moving to Karachi soon for work,

the place i might be working is at NURSERY. if i quite that job for any reason then i'll be working in DHA or Clifton or PECHS.
can any one Point on Google Maps that where is this "Nursery" located? because Google maps shows 16 different Nurseries in Karachi.

i want a single bedroom apartment at good price and safe location, my preference is Nursery or very close location to it. (budget for apartment less than Rs 15,000 per month)
i'll be traveling on Taxi, Rakshaw or local transport. No Bike or No Car for me in Karachi.
i have heard from many people especially who are from Karachi saying, "Outsiders in Karachi are not accepted, you will face racism and might he shot for no reason..."
2 people i knew were shot by unknown persons, 3rd my best friend's leg was fractured by MQM with steel pipe rod 4 years ago in torture cell...well they didn't killed him though.

The safest area is DHA but you wont find any apartment under 15k there.

I am so sorry but nearly everything that you have been told about Karachi is wrong.

Karachi is nearly all relatively safe. Just dont visit shanty towns around the highways, Liyari, Kati pahari, SITE, and the ones mentioned below.

Nursery is located on main Shahr-e-Faisal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shara-e-Faisal( the most important road in Karachi) In above map locate it running from airport to Clifton along side where Malir river is written, and Nursury is in the place written as 'Societies' . But mind you that this road is increably long.. ..Search for PECHS (block 2)in google maps, that whole area is called Nursery.
It is a very hustling place, full of activity and pretty nice place to be.

I would highly recommend you to get a small car for Karachi.

Everyone in Karachi is an outsider and everyone is accepted.

Safe? As Nanow said, all is safe here.. Its only the hype.
Anyways, getting an apartment under 15k will ONLY be possible in Gulshan or Gulistan-e-Jauhar which will be 12-14 KMS from Nursery.
But no one is going to give you an apartment because everybody prefers FAMILIES instead of Single Men or women.

Your tariff Daily in a Rickshaw (12-14 kms ) Will be Ranging from Rs.150-200

lol bro chill .. no one is gonna shoot u or do anything stupid just because ur from islamabad... There is no safe place but to be on the safe side you should get an apartment in dha phase 4 or phase 2 or phase 6 .. some phases have a bad repu of crimes.. dont travel in buses .. crime rate is 90% , rikshaw is fine or higher some suzuki transport for ur job location if possible..i have been to nursery its market of computer shelfs ,chairs etc , as i am not from khi so dont know much location but had gone khi for css prep for about 2 months, i resided at my cousins apartment in dha khayab e bukhari .. My personal advises would be, not to be frank with everyone, dont ever showoff, never get noticed by unknown people and never ever trust new people.if possible try to be in dha zone.... and dont get scared bro .. its a normal city with normal people , u will be treated the same as others are.. so take a chill pill and bounce by my ribz homie !!!

I'm from PECHS block 2 and although mugging at gunpoint is common here don't worry they won't shoot you (I've been mugged once and all my relatives atleast twice but no one's been shot in this neighborhood). Although you must make sure to try and avoid the locality 'Lines Area'. Now that I think about it maybe we've suffered more of these street thugs because we live right on the border between PECHS and lines area. Also, welcome to Karachi

brother try to get residance as near as poosible travelling in karachi too hactic both in terms of money and time. Try to get apartment on tariq road or near to automarket. They are very near to your place of working. Rents are not too much high

LOL...Karachi is not a war-zone and whoever is feeding you that racism BS is an idiot ! Karachi has people from every ethnicity !

People get shot in all the major commercial metropolitan cities in the world - you have to be smart, if someone asks for your cellfone, money immediately hand-over it - your life is more precious !

BTW, if you have a vehicle in Islamabad, I would recommend you to transport it to Karachi. Public transport is not so good.

And every 2nd person in karachi is outsider so i never heared that outsiders are not allowed.

And yes i never tried lyari or kati pahadi or areas like that
So for me karachi is good city.....
And welcome in advance. U wont find any flate because ur bechelor better use any friends or relatives PR in getting residence...

Public transport is pathetic better get an bike or car if u can afford or rikshaw is best option...

I would recommend you to get a studio apartment in DHA. No loadshedding, no mugging, no traffic jams, rent would be around 15k to 18k for studio apartments, go to OLX or Zameen.pk. However keep in mind you'll have to spend 400/day on rickshaw and Rs.700/day on taxi for work to return journey. Transport a must, would suggest u to get a bike second hand around 15-20k its best convene IMO, I recommend DHA because its safer and quitter then other areas of Karachi. I've been living in Karachi or almost two and half years never got mugged ALHAMDULLILAH. All the other worries you quoted are bull crap. No fazul ki khawari in Karachi keeps u safe from unwanted incidents.

Karachi is the main hub of the Pakistani economy and it's trade

Karachi is the backbone of the country.

Karachi features citizens of nearly every class, creed, color, religion and language from all of the Pakistan.


If u want to reside in Karachi, the only thing u need to do is to avoid no go and distance areas.
