MULTI Life Is Strange |OT|

So did anyone play this yet? I just finished the first ep and it turned out to be surprisingly good. For those who don't know Life Is Strange is the new Episodic adventure game by Dontnod (the guys who made Remember Me).

I really liked the first episode, the story is good, the characters are well developed and fleshed out for the most part, it's got a gone home-y vibe to it apart from other notable influences and the time rewinding mechanic adds a new layer to the usual make a choice/suffer consequences gameplay in modern adventure games. Basically, if you like telltale's new adventure games and you liked Gone Home or are generally good with the teeny/coming of age vibe of Gone Home you'll probably like this.

The first episode was about 3 hours long, there's a good bit of story content but there's alot of stuff on the side to look at and read as well.

The time rewind mechanic makes things pretty interesting, you can rewind time and switch choices on the spot but like usual there's alot of gray areas and there are no apparent right and wrong choices, also there seems to be a good amount of decision making, many trivial actions and events also propmt a "This will have consequences" message.

3hrs? wot..finished it in barely 2hrs with all achievements. Game was really fun but i didnt really like the option that you can change your important choices by rewinding..takes away the whole weight of your decisions which TTG games do so well

So f****** happy its not a point and click.

Some of the dialogue felt forced, but overall it's a solid game. I really enjoyed it.

oh damn, this game deserves more players. Really loved it. The controls felt pretty weird in the start tho

Finished the first episode, glad I gave this a shot. Really enjoyed my time with it even if some of the dialogue was cringe-worthy, I unironically loved how most of the characters were very typical highschool archetypes albeit with a hipster twist, also the flavor text for all the random stuff littered around areas was really nice, made the game feel a lot more immersive. The whole "Rachel is missing" theme really reminded me of Twin Peaks and I can't wait to see where the story goes from here, sad to hear that the 2nd episode got delayed.

This controlled better and had more freedom to move around in then any recent stuff from telltale, The art-style looks great for what they're going for and the animations for the characters were pretty good but the constant texture pop-in from UE3 in every new area looked pretty bad, but it is still superior to the shit engine that Telltale still uses.

Finally started it and I have to say, I'm really digging it. Dontnod did an especially great job with the atmosphere, direction and soundtrack, immediately reels me in.

Telltale games should take notes.
