Life at NUST (H-12)

Literally it felt like an army public school. They received complaints from the industry that their students especially from backward areas don't know how to dress properly blah blah which forced the DG to end uniform.

I am talking about the era when SEECS was NIIT, and it was in Scheme III campus. We shifted to H-12 in Sep 2008 at start of our 7th semester (i'm from batch of BICSE-3), only SEECS and NBS campuses were functional there at that time, rest of it was still under construction.
And yes there were raids, surprise raids, ask any of the Alumini. And they were sanctioned by Dr. Arshad lol but I think they stopped em after moving to H-12.


P.S. we also had to wear that white shirt grey trouser uniform which ended in 2007.

A lot of things changed at H-12. My first semester at H-12 wasn't great either but everything started to fall in its place after they moved us to Rumi hostels (our seniors were moved there first). I guess my batch had a pretty good time compared to what I hear from our seniors and current students at NUST.

can anybody share their experience at nust karachi (pnec), i am considering going there for mechanical engineering, i am from Lahore and not familiar with karachi, no relatives there

How is the accommodation and campus life

and most importantly how safe is the area around the uni

Yaar PNEC is in a very safe locality, Alhumdulillah. It's right beside the Navy area (Karsaz) and there's strict checking etc. I went to PNEC yesterday and two army personnel with machine guns came to stop me

Khair from what I know I don't think there are hostel facilities here. Though you'll have to confirm that. Otherwise it's pretty cool. There aren't many places to 'chill' around near PNEC but they aren't very far either.

I got into PNEC for Electrical as well. So looking forward to a good year inshaaAllah. I'm a karachite btw.

PS. There is uniform at PNEC. White shirt and grey pants.

PNEC does have hostels.

i got tri seater i applied on 12th and got the hostel on 24th of August

Just pray that you get good room-mates because those rooms are NOT designed for 3 people. They've just crammed in an extra bed in the corner to accommodate a third person.

Yeah sucks,lets see if get the room even though i am still 50/50 either to live in hostel or just go daily from my house,the only thing which tilts me towards is the hostel is nbs dress code,i really don't feel comfortable in formal clothes as my body is more of athletic type.

Depends a lot on which department you apply for.

Mechanical. Or BS Mathematics and BS Physics. They're asking for a 550 minimum score in Math Level II, Physics and Chemistry. So if I score more than 550 in all three, seat pakki hogi Mechanical mein Islamabad campus mein?

No those are just the minimum scores that you need in order to be eligible to apply. I'm not exactly sure what the closing merits of those disciplines are. There's a pageon NUST Guideline (https://www.facebook.com/NustGuideLine). They usually record every year's admission stats. Check out their files maybe it's there.

Mechanical and electrical are top tier fields when taking merit into account.

So, you will probably need to be in the top 20 or 30 guys or so (in SAT 2 ) to get in those particular fields.
