Kitten died. I'm in deep depression right now :'(

Few months ago. A cat given birth to 4 beautiful kittens outside my Flat. I feed them. Raised them. Like my own pets. But few days ago 1 kitten got extremely sick. His/her ears got cold. Wasn't eating at all. Only drinking water So we took them all inside our home. I thought giving the ill kitten shelter would somehow improve his/her Health. Yesterday morning when i checked on them to feed them i found out that the sick kitten was taking his last breaths. I took him/her on my arms and Comfort him/her to the bitter end.. Few minutes later he stopped breathing and he died. Now i'm highly depressed i cannot eat nor sleep. Cause it was my responsibility to take the kitten to a vet. I didn't. now i think his/her death is on my hands.

I cannot deal with this kind of depression so i thought of posting here. I cannot keep the pain inside me any longer.

Even though i knew the kitten for 2-3 months. He/she will always be remembered. Showed me the value of life. Thank you for memories.

Bro, bear in mind that if you have pets, you will have to deal with this kind of pain/depression. Because some of them will die, in front of your eyes, no matter what you do. I am speaking from experience.

Yes, you should have taken the kitten to a vet. But you tried your best anyway. Let it go. (I know it's easier said than done.)

these kind of things usually do happen that is why they give birth to not one but four at a time.... sometimes even more than one dies when they are small etc... not your fault.. he/she is in kitty heaven ...

Bro I'm not depressed because the kitten died. I'm depressed because i don't think i did the best i could to save him/her.

Agreed. I should've taken him/her to a vet but the vet is so far away it takes 1 hour just to reach him. So i got lazy. And a kitten is dead because of it. :'(

In any case, you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. The way you've described it, there's no way of telling something like that would've been serious. And if it makes you feel any better, the vets here are complete trash. Most vets you'll encounter (at least ones that don't cost an arm and a leg) will likely be dropouts with next to no knowledge or experience. The one we took our cat to couldn't even get the gender right. :fp2:

For future reference, if you have a sick cat with a loss of appetite, try giving it warm milk with turmeric (haldi) mixed in, force feed via dropper if you have to.

My vet is 'OK' so not a total trash. And yes we did give em warm milk not with haldi though i will keep that in mind. Thank you.

Your broken heart will heal with time. These kittens are very brittle. They get sick easily and can die suddenly without showing too many signs.

Not many good vets in town , most of them just charge a lot of money and do shit , i mean i know a vet personally he doesn't love animals but he was a good vet but he retired was in GOVT , there is another vet i personally know he loves pet and do good work .

U can self cure animals to , for things like fever etc read on internet , usually 1 drop of Calpole of small children given by dropper cures fever for cats . keep rest of the kittens inside as first winter for cats is the most tough one

Shit dude. We had a cat that gave birth to kittens twice. 4 of them each time. Out of her kittens, no one was my favorite but I would buy food for them regularly. One of the female kitten was so fond of me that whenever I would rise up in the morning, she would be waiting for me at my feet on top of my blanket. Sometimes she would be asleep tired of waiting for me. If I change position during sleep, she would just raise her head to check on me. If I got up and she notice, she would slowly crawl up on me and sit near my head purring. I realized how beautiful this animal was. One day my mother gave all the kittens to various people. And I got so upset just because of that one kitten I started to like all of them. I was in favor of hunting and killing of animals but after that, things like these upsets me to my core. I sometime view my posts on fb on hunting animals for food and think how a small creature changed me completely. I can't stand seeing any animal in pain now whether on the road or on the TV. You made me cry a little dude.
