Spot on bro DSP makes a lot of difference and everything is built in synergy to bring out the maximum level of performance I am happy for the fact that I am able to hear it the way it was originally designedAny passive speaker needs a proper amp to drive them properly. Pre-amp needs to be good enough (DAC=Pre-amp).
The LS50w sound much better than the LS50 because even though they have the same speaker and enclosure, the LS50w has a DSP that eeks out more performance and fixes the shortcomings of the LS50:
"The big difference is that with the DSP preamp we have a lot more control over the crossover, so the response is smoother on the LS50W than the LS50. Inside the DSP we monitor the power and excursion of the driver and step in if it is likely to distort." - KEF Engineer
