I study at Comsats and here they have this CCNA course every year. I have studied some basic networking stuff in my 5th semester. Since I have a lot of free time in summers, should I try getting a CCNA certification or something? Are there good jobs in the networking field?

Assalamualikum, I'm CCNA and CCNP certified with CEH, RHCE, MCITP, MCSE, TMG, OffensiveSecurity and dozen other certifications. If you are going for Networks because of interest then you will achieve alot else you will stuck at Help Desk or Level-2.

You need to be certified CCNA/NP with atleast 2 years experience to start a good earning job. Most people doing certifications today rely on dumps which ruins their and others future. In Pakistan, you can get a good job but the issue is, most jobs advertised for Network Engineers/Admins will also want you to be expert in Systems (Microsoft+Linux) for a very low pay.

For first few years, do as much network specific courses (voice/security/design/DC/ISP) + Master Linux as much as possible. Then after getting 3-5 years of experience either find a well reputable Firm in Pakistan or go abroad where you will find tons of offers with superb package.

I'm a computer engineer bro, and don't have much knowledge about networking. I had a 'Data communication and computer networks' subject last semester, but that's it.

I'm really not sure right now if I'm interested in networking. Although I studied all the basic stuff last semester i.e tcp/ip ans OSI models and designing networks on linux, riverbed and stuff. I don't have any practical experience though. So would CCNA be a good starting point for me?
Allot of people here say that there aren't many good jobs for networking in Pakistan. Can one get jobs abroad with some experience and certification under his belt. Also at this point I'm pretty much interested in Web and Mobile app development. So I'm not sure if I should step into networking and I'm also not sure about the career prospects. What would you say?
