I'm looking forward to buying a new Ps4. I've been hearing about these regions they come in. Most people prefer the region 1 because of the difference between the X & O buttons but are these regions really a huge issue?

Should i prefer buying the region 1 instead of 2/3 or is region 2 fine aswell? Since there is quite a price difference between region 1 and 2/3.

But aren't the O and X issues only in the XMB menu? I heard the games you play have the same controls as other regions.
Possibly how much time could one spend roaming around the XMB. :p

well in simple words go for region 3 if you are on tight budget else Region 1 FTW.

what about the reg 2? reg 1 requires a converter if im not wrong? and using a reg 1 ps4 with a converter + a good ups already creates a mess..:/

Hello Good Lads,

Good decision of planning to buy a ps4 in its early days as you will enjoy the console being evlolved over time just like other fellow users.

Coming to the point of Being Region Free.

I bought a Japanese Ps4 from Dubai. It has X and O inverted only in the XMB menu that's about it.

I will elaborate a little further.

I have a 7 years old UK PSN account which i use on my ps3/Ps vita & now on Ps4, In order for its full region support i only buy REGION 2 GAMES (Strictly) as only those REGION 2 (UK Region) games comply to my PSN id.

Console REgion has no value anymore, what matters is what region your PSN account is and after what region games do you play on it.

To Give an example.

I bought a Japanese ps4 from dubai.

I have uk PSN Account (Region 2)

i only buy Region 2 Games (for example i have REgion 2 Fifa 15)

i am a PS PLUS member and i buy REGION 2 PSN (Membership & Wallet Cards from internet of which complies with Regions 2 accounts)
and then i buy game online from my ps4 from playstation store.

bear in mind that my games work flawlessly with everything being region 2 except THE COSOLE. Console's regions doe not matter now at all anymore.

so go ahead. if you buy japanese console X and O will be inverted only in XMB menu of the console provided it you buy REGION 2 games, the in-game X & O options will be fine and normal as X for Enter and O for back.

Hope to read your article soon about you buying a ps4 console and writing a review about it. any more help you need we al will be more than happy to help..

after all we all are Playstation Family :D

Not quite an issue (only in XBM) but if you can go for the Region 1 (1)

Can someone answer this: hashsohail Deamonillidan

Let's say I get a Region 1 PS4, make a US PSN account and try to play any game multiplayer. Now will I only be able to play on US servers or will I be able to choose which server I want to play on? Asking because pings on US servers are terrible but EU servers have playable pings.

you will definitely automatically be re-routed to US servers.

Playing from Pakistan with us servers are real pain.

I have 8mb Broadband and i play Fifa and GTA Online and they work flawless with EU servers (as i have a UK PSN & my Game is REgion 2 (UK) too.

all you fellows, if you may, add me up on PSN. if you need any help you can always message me on my psn account.

That utterly sucks! The region 2 games and DLCs are super expensive in comparison to Region 1's.

that depends really, but to be honest, even US ps4 users crave for EU servers.

go for EU Region 2, you won't be disappointed. Once you choose a region there is no going back. EU region Playstation support is so so much better .

You most probably will be connected to the US servers but it might depend on the region of your Game Disc as well.

Damn. The plan was to buy games digitally as I was going to share them with a friend of mine. What If:

I set up my US PSN account with the digital game as primary.
Make a UK Region PSN account and set it up as secondary on the same console.
That account should have access to my US PSN+,my digital US games.
Now If I try and play multiplayer (through the secondary UK account) will I still be limited to only US servers?

Yes I had the same idea in mind. It should work. Download the games via US PSN and play online via UK PSN account. That should definitely connect you to the UK servers.

Awesome! This should save me a LOT OF $$.
@hashsohail So you would recommend me to go for the region 2 ps4 right?

Good Lads,

this will not work at all, if you buy a game from US PS STORE (US PSN ID) it will only work with the same primary PSN ID (OR) it will work with secondary (US REGION PSN ID).

IT WILL NOT WORK WITH UK PSN ID at all.

I would suggest both of you go for REGION 2, even if you manage to buy any other region ps4 console you will still be able to play all region 2 games with your region 2 (UK PSN ID). with EU servers and in the same manner you can share the digital copy with your mate. rest is upto you.

i use my Japanese console with my UK PSN ID and Region 2 games and work flawlessly. i live in islamabad and have 8mb ptcl broadband. and multiplayer gameplay is same as the other person witting next to you :) (i play fifa15 and gta 5 online) on ps4.

Ehhh? Have you tried it? I've been asking around on the PS4 reddit and the peeps there are saying that it will work.
