Asalam o alaikum,

Yesterday, during shopping foriftaar of first roza, my cellphone was picked from my pocket. I got my sims blocked and re-issued. Emailed PTA about blocking the set with both IMEIs and all details etc.

I was wondering is it possible to catch the thief and retrieve the set by any means possible?

Regards,

Wassalam

if your andriod phone is connected to wifi - google phone locator can see where your phone got synced..

other than that I doint think there is anything you can do

If the thief knows about smartphones and how they work, his first instinct would've been to turn it off and/or remove the SIM card to stop any connections. That way it can't be tracked or wiped remotely.

Now in the case you didn't blacklist the IMEIs and the thief continued to use the phone for himself (and not sell it), a contact or relative in intelligence would've been able to help you by checking which SIM card is active on the IMEI number of that phone, checking the ICCID with the cellular network and then finding out who the SIM is registered to and then tracking it.

However you've reported the IMEI, so PTA will add it to the blacklist and the guy will probably sell the phone off for way below it's actual market value and make a few thousand rupees off it and go on with his sad pathetic life of being a thief.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
