I am in Islamabad and want to buy Iphone 7. I have searched and found the following viable options.
  • Buy from Futuretech
  • Mega.pk
  • Homeshopping.pk
  • Shophive
  • Ishopping.pk

Futuretech and Shophive say that they have official warranty in Pakistan, However apple official website has no warranty support for Iphone in Pakistan. Its noteworhty that both Futuretech and Shophive charge a premium for their so called official warranty.

Homeshopping.pk and Ishopping.pk sells Iphone 7 with either no warranty or their own warranty for which they charge a couple thousands more.

Mega.pk only offers 7 days checking warranty.

Everyone says that the iphone 7 which they are selling is non activated and I will be the one to first activate the Iphone and the apple warranty will start on the day I activate the phone, However if that apple warranty can not be claimed in Pakistan its effectively worthless.

So my question is from where to buy the Iphone 7 and in case warranty is required how will I be able to claim it.

Please refrain from quoting heresay. I am more interested in your personal experiences.

A PG member PM'd me about buying an iPhone 7 from iShopping. He received a Sprint US variant and it was already activated before he received it.

FutureTech is the authorized reseller for Apple in Pakistan, they sell their iPhones without Facetime and the PTA sticker on the box, and they offer full service and support in Pakistan.

Every other online website sells imports from god knows where.

AFAIK, only Daraz and FutureTech sell iPhone 7/7 Plus with official warranty in Pakistan. If you buy from either of them, expect to get a set with FaceTime disabled; as Murtaza has said before me, there'll also be a PTA sticker on the box. All the rest offer faux-warranty.

iMessage is enabled and works fine on those phones.
Only Facetime is disabled.

*UPDATE*

I went to the outlet of mega.pk in I-8 and had a chat with their sales person. Here is the crux of our conversation:

  • The iphones they are selling are non-activated
  • The iphones are sourced from USA with their models ending in LL/A and these have facetime enabled and are factory unlocked. I did not ask them about the variant of iphone.
  • Regarding warranties, they only give 7 days replacement warranty. However they say that the iphones will have full 1 year Apple Official Warranty starting from the date of purchase. This Apple Warranty can not be claimed in Pakistan, and the phone would have to be sent to any Apple Store in the USA for warranty
  • They provide no assistance in claiming warranty from USA.
  • They would only give mega.pk receipt and were vague to answer if that receipt will be valid in the USA Apple Store as proof of purchase to claim official warranty. The salesman was of the opinion that the status of the Official Warranty can be checked on Apple website against iphone's serial number and this will be sufficient enough to claim warranty if somehow I personally manage to send the phone to the USA.

So I guess the real question is:
Has anyone had any experience claiming iphone Official Warranty in Pakistan provided the phone was NOT purchased from Futuretech?

UmerF The iPhone 6 Plus camera lens issue, was that a locally purchased model or a FutureTech purchase?

You can claim official warranty just fine with Future Tech for your iPhone, just as you can with your locally purchased one. Simply call them up, head to their service center and it'll be taken care of you.

My lens issue was for the locally purchased phone but that doesn't matter as the lens issue was global and regardless of wherever you bought the phone, even if they didn't provide warranty for international phones, they had to replace the lens as instructed by Apple. With that said, like I mentioned above, you're fine to get your warranty claimed with Future Tech just fine in Pakistan even if you bought it from States. I buy my iPhones in States now, get it with Apple Care and claim it anywhere in the world I am at the moment if it ever has an issue, but you don't even need Apple Care for it to claim it in Pakistan.

Future Tech and Media Center is your best bet to buy your iPhone in Pakistan, the latter will even get you FaceTime enabled phone that can also be claimed for warranty and what not. Future Tech recently was looking into introduce FaceTime enabled phones alongside with the disabled ones as well, you shouldn't be buying an iPhone from anywhere but FutureTech and Media Center in Pakistan if having a legitimate phone with warranty is your biggest concern.

Another question that I think you should find an answer to is whether they have service center presence in all the major cities of Pakistan, and if they also have actual physical retail outlets in the major cities of Pakistan.

A company that only exists on the web can up and disappear without much notice never to be seen or heard from again.

EDIT: To answer that question, as per their website, yes they do have retail outlets in the major cities of Pakitan. My advice to you would be to buy from them from their retail outlet. In fact, I would open the box, get online, and activate the phone right then and there to be 100% sure it wasn't just some AT&T/Verizon variant from the USA.

As long as the phone is legit and under warranty, Future Tech will take care of your iPhone without any issue. Back then they only used to deal with iPhones with certain serial numbers if they were imported from States and the likes, but they recently launched their service to take care of your devices regardless of location as long as it's valid for warranty.

Ideally, it's best to contact Future Tech before deciding where you're buying it from and ask them in clear words how they will take care of it. And I only recommend the sellers I mentioned above, can't really comment on other sellers out there.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
