Btw one thing to note is that display mate only looks at the "accuracy" of a display and not how "beautiful" a display is. Accuracy \\=\\ better for the average person. Make no mistake the display of the GS3 can be ridiculous at times with colors but sometimes watching videos at night with all those sheer blacks is a sight to behold.

Basically in day time LCD is better since brightness is much higher and at night SAMOLED HD is better in my opinion. Overall it really comes down to preference.

Lumia 920 isn't out yet. Xperia displays suck, Sony can't even figure out how to make a display without terrible viewing angles. HTC One X I agree has a gorgeous display. iPhone 5 I'm sure will too.

Seriously the single most annoying thing about xperia phones. Its acceptable for cheaper phones like the xperia U and mini etc but its ridiculous how even their flagship phones have terrible viewing angles. And this was a company that once was the pioneer and leader in display tech, oh how the times change.

GSMarena ever netural review of IOS6 is quite

Quite summed up nicely.

The truth, as always, is somewhere in the middle. While iOS 6 is probably falling behind the curve, it's certainly not lost its appeal, or edge. Far from it. It was never meant to entice power-users the way Android does.
Windows Phone on the other hand - a platform that's fundamentally closer to iOS in terms of ideology - is something that may push Apple out of their comfort zone. There's been a huge leap forward with the release of WP8 but Microsoft is still at some distance. Just not quite as safe for Apple as it used to be.
The iOS 6 will be able to stand its ground for a good while but probably won't be able to win new territory quite as comfortably, unless Apple goes back to its creative self.

I'm an owner of Galaxy S2 Global.. and here are my cents on the matter of GS3 and IP5,

Okay first I wanna talk about S3 I was honestly waiting for its release crazily with all the stupid rumors going around about it being so great and all but when it was released.. Damn was it the biggest disappointment I ever had.. The shape was absolutely disgusting.. I mean I loved S2 look but Screw apple and its law suites that have been whining around that they own the 'rectangle' shape in smart phones :/ more specifically 'round corners' I don't give a fuck about round corners its the rectangle shape I care about, I don't know if S3 was modified to avoid getting ban hammers in court but the ovalish shape really made it look bad, The color sucks.. pebble blue? ew and white I really don't like that color in phones..

anyhow S3 was a disappointment in looks, looks matter a lot to me then came the camera having no update at all.. but the things I liked about it were all the rest of the modifications.. more ram, more batt and lets not forget the new 'innovations' like eye sensor and quad core processor.. so in a way S3 was an okay release phone but was it worth moving to from S2? nah not really.. only one thing wanted me to get it and it was higher resolution but again a few apps that run on tablet resolution were not worth updating to S3.. now S2 was amazing in its time.. It was the beast of all Android phones.. but now things have evolved.. S3 is great in some senses but in others it completely disappointed for some people but that's because of preferences, for some s3 is awesome for others its not.. but S2 seemed to have satisfied everybody's demands back then it just didn't have 3D technology that didn't make much impression anyway.

For me, I already have s2 it has much of everything any other phone on the market has.. so I didn't get up and bought s3 however I'll definitely will be looking into s4 so yeah all you apple fan boys go suck on aluminum Iphone5 we'll be getting s4 sooner next year :p while you guys wait in lines to get Iphone5.

anyhow now on IP5 vs S3 general points:

Comparing both right now is not gonna be fair, considering s3 sold 20 million copies vs just 5 million for now lets wait 100 days for an accurate comparison with all the bugs found,

Look:
S3 does look bad vs iphone5 when it comes to look, feel and build but eh nothing to worry about you can get many cases out there so lets move on to other points, Iphone 5 wins the round here for those that sensitive about looks like me, but some people actually love the S3 look so its a preference based point.

Performance:
benchmark test that came out sorry to say we need more comparisons for accurate results have to wait for more benchmark tests to come out but I'm kind of shocked to see Iphone beat S3 by a few points, however I'd like to add the facts of over clocking, and I'm pretty sure Quad Core will eventually beat a Dual core processor at one point especially when it comes to multitasking.. anyhow lets wait for more tests before jumping to conclusions. Remember S3 is still the beast in android phones in performance this year.

Battary:
Improved, interchangeable. S3 wins again, Iphone can now change battery but not like your regular phone battery with help of a technician :p so now when you burn a battery out you can have it replaced instead of the whole phone but S3 still takes the lead because you can just have as many batteries you like so even if you run out on one you can put any other but over all S3 has a bigger screen which needs more power so yeah don't go trolling on me for that bigger screen is better btw but personal preference.

Resolution/screen size:
S3 winner :p sorry the screen is still bigger but hey good for apple to finally have the sense to have a bigger screen.

Memory size:
S3 again.. winner its more flexable, Iphone 5 still no micro SD? shame on you.

Innovation:
Alright S3 is far MORE innovative then Iphone 5, the core claim of apple is its innovative but its all bullshit, Apple is only innovative in making sure it products are flawlessly attractive to common people that are not tech savvy, Iphone 5 still seems like a neanderthal comparing to other smarts phones when it comes to innovation, I mean come on closed battery, closed memory, closed operating system, closed design and it dares to call it self a smart phone?, Sure apple can go ahead and claim it was first to fish in the pond but it significantly failed to evolve, Thanks to all the monopoly for money going on why don't apply fan boys see this? Hell even the accessories are confined to its products I have never seen a product SO HOMOPHOBIC in my entire life.. the only thing I have in mind when I think about apple is I have to pay extra bucks for a phone that looks good feels good but is far primitive then its modern cousins when it comes to real tech savvy world.

anyhow enough of my rant, S3 came out with SOME innovation such as the eye sensor that automatically turns the phone on and off and some people LOVE IT to death actually, I've read people don't wanna move to any other phone just cause of this feature, looks like Samsung is getting brighter, in my conclusion just cause a phone that looks premium just cause its expensive well built and looks good doesn't mean its actually a good smart phone and Iphone 5 for a smartphone sucks in my eyes, but as phone great phone man 700 dollar phone you can just boast around about it by just that alone :p

sorry for the big post and whatever errors and typos XD

GSMArena review is out and as always they are the most unbiased reviewers and dont get excited by the hype.

"What we are not so sure is how happy will you be with your iPhone 5's design when it gets scratched. And that leads us to the main grudge we have with the new iPhone - unless you take the utmost care, it will get scratched. The anodized aluminum chipping issues are already well documented and we are just a week into the iPhone 5's availability.

Simply put, the material Apple selected is not durable enough. The company tried to defend itself, saying that scratching is a normal for anodized aluminum bodies, but that's not quite true. We have a Nokia N8 that's been tossed around the office for nearly two years now, and it only has few scratches and shows minimal wear. We've seen three-day old iPhone 5 units that look worse."
Clearly apple cheaped out on the build guys and I am not trying to be a fanboy.

"On the right you find the tray, which pops open to reveal the new nanoSIM slot. Another SIM standard is hardly great news for anyone, but we are hoping that this will be the last one for a while. The world didn't even manage to complete the switch to microSIM, so with the iPhone 5 now available we have three SIM standards in use at the same time."
Exactly what I said back then.

"Surpringly enough, the iPhone 5 audio output was a tad worse than that of the iPhone 4S. Obviously the ultra compact body demanded some compromises be made."
"The iPhone 5 brings a modest screen update, which is nowhere near as impressive as a four-fold increase in resolution brought by the iPhone 4. The performance of the camera is basically identical to the one on the 4S, and while the phone looks nothing short of stunning, the finish threatens to deteriorate quite quickly if not looked after. Not to mention that it just lacks the wow factor of the iPhone 4. All we're left with is a surprisingly solid chipset - and we mean a surprise that most quad-cores will hardly call pleasant. But at the end of the day, Apple has failed to live up to its own upgrade standard set with the iPhone 4. What we mean is the iPhone 4S could get away with many things but not the iPhone 5 - not a second year in a row."
"The iPhone 5 was let down by what has been the lineup's greatest strength thus far. We are talking the iOS 6 operating system, which seems to be falling behind the curve. After the fiasco with the new Apple Maps some are even saying that iOS 6 is a step backwards from iOS 5. Now, we wouldn't go that far as the new OS release teaches the iPhone family plenty of new tricks, but we can't overlook the fact either that while Android finally caught up in terms of fluidity and smoothness, iOS is yet to match the functionality of its competitors."
"We are not sure if it's due to complacency or the innovation well has simply dried up, but Apple has let competition catch up and even take the lead second year in a row. Had the iPhone 5 come out last year, when everyone was expecting it, it would have been a trend-setter, but now it seems to be relegated to a follower and the worst part is the pricing department didn't even get the memo. Off contract, it's probably the most expensive smartphone in Europe. Then again, the momentum gained will certainly help mask some of the iPhone 5 weaknesses and the unprecedentedly loyal user base will make the smartphone a success, in the profit game. And that's the only game big companies play, anyway. So, those maps will eventually get fixed and Apple will pat themselves on the back for a job well done. A nine-to-five job though, not the inspired and visionary piece of work we all know this company can deliver."
This is what I call a great review not because it says what I want it to say but GSMarena has always been like this, they dont sell themselves out and say what they really feel like. They dont rush out a review just to get more hits they take their time. Thumbs up for GSMarena. (y)

Modest screen update? Please. I'd rather read about that from people who're experts in this field (DisplayMate)
They dont just go by numbers you know no average consumer cares about the RGB values it's all about the impression the screen leaves on the naked eye. GSMArena noted it's better color accuracy.

"Apple has also worked hard to make the colors as accurate as possible and you can clearly tell the difference.

There's no denying the fact the iPhone 5 screen is truly impressive. It's the best on any iPhone so far and probably has the best per-pixel quality in the LCD business (whether or not you prefer the more saturated AMOLEDs is a different story altogether).

However, on the current market it's just not as mind-blowing as the iPhone 4 screen was, when the last Apple screen update came. When put side by side with an HTC One X or an Optimus 4X HD, the iPhone 5 Retina display looks a tad less impressive, simply because of its size. And it's no longer the highest res unit available on a smartphone either."

Display mate simply uses numbers to compare screens instead of the actual impression thats almost like using benchmarks to decide whats the best phone.

They also said that the screen should have gained a bit width as well to allow for bigger keyboard which I agree with. The iphone is quite narrow and certainly could do with more width without making it uncomfortable. I went from a 16:9 4" xperia play to a 15:9 4" nexus S and I can say the latter ratio works much better for a 4" screen as the added width is more beneficial then the added height of a 16:9 screen compared to 15:9. 16:9 is better once you go to the 4.5" or bigger screens.

simply because of its size
So it looks less impressive to them simply because of its size. Well that settles it then. Not everyone wants huge displays and size is no criteria to measure how impressive a display is.

The point is the screen has no "wow never seen this before" factor simply because it isnt doing anything thats not been done before. Talking about color quality the HTC one X has an incredibly balanced display as well so again nothing new. Your favorite displaymate didnt even bother testing the one X screen and yet they call the iphone 5 the best smartphone screen ever??

Pretty obvious whose pocket they are in.
