Internet Speed for Online Play on Ps4

How much internet speed will work alright on ps4 online network especially for GTA 5? I have a 4mb world call connection. Haven't tried online mode yet.

it depends on the ping too. go to speedtest.net website from your pc or phone and check the specs of your net.


i have 4 mb PTCL connection which was recently upgraded by ptcl to 8mb for free. i pay only for 4 mb connection.


i get 15 to 20 ms PING on my connection. fifa 15 and gta 5 online works flawless.

HI you can also check the speed of your internet through sites like ScanmySpeed.com ..They will measure both the download and upload speed in Mbps...

Same question, what region is your account & country you selected at the time of creating your account? I have Region 1 US account & I get like 2/5 bars in COD: AW on my PS4. Whereas on local speed test my ping is 15 ms.


My connection is Nayatel.

hello,

i have region 2 account, and it works flawless. i have ptcl 8mb broadband connection with 15-20 ms ping. works like a charm.

my psn id is around 9 years old and always had region 2. i dont like anything to do with america so never had/experienced region 1 account.

but region 2 servers are flawless.

I have US a/c since I bought my first PS3. Tried a region 2 account recently didn't help though.

I get mixed pings on my Region 1, sometimes it's good other times it's barely playable.

No bro ping has nothing to do with son or playstation or its servers.


Ping is the response time of you INTERNET CONNECTION.


Ping depends on your internet speed and its selectivity of exchange/server of your internet service provider and its health.

Ptcl I guess is routed through EU.

Hence you'll be getting better pings there, correct? As for connection speed ping are relatively consistent after 2mb onwards if you have a stable connection.

Ok so I did a little research and here's what I found.

Theoretically a fibre optic connection should be ten times as better as a normal connection.
If you're getting NAT Type 2 or higher gameplay should be flawless.

The second thing is where the server is hosted for the game that you're playing. With a little digging you can find that out easily.
Once you know that all you have to do is call nayatel and tell them that you need a more stable connection to "server name" located in "country"
they usually manage the greatly improve online playability and ping within half an hour.
I tested this yesterday with dota2 and my ping went from 180 to 110. Better ping means better response time.


However, The main thing is that there are two types of hosts:
1. Server hosts with high traffic capacity.
2. Individual hosts usually players who are randomly made hosts of the game or party.

In the case of the former, games which are hosted by servers your ping to that particular server greatly influences the smoothness of your gameplay.

In the case of individual or non dedicated hosts however the general rule of thumb is that the closer the person is to you the smoother your game will go.

I guess that is one of the downsides of having to join a foreign host's game. The best course of action though would be choose the country closest to you, if you have that choice. Alternatively if you get nayatel to optimize your net for EU connections and then only play on EU that may ease your online experience.
