Ideas for OS project

I have OS(operating system) this semester and a major part of the course is the project. We have to submit proposals in the coming weeks so I need ideas for it.

I still need help with this, consulted some of my seniors and my lab instructor too. She advised to make a system application for the project. She told me to make a disk defragmentation and management for linux. Will someone please guide me through this because we haven't progressed much in the course and I need to submit the proposal.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am making a task manager or a hard drive management system which will be built into Linux.
