I want to upgrade my T3400 workstation to be able to run Photoshop and illustrator smoothly.
The current specs are:
Ram: 8Gb
Hdd: 250GB
Graphic: nvidia quadro fx 1700
Cache: 12mb (i simply have no idea what this is)

Actually I have to use my pc for graphic designing(illustrator, photoshop). Right now when I use my PC i get many lags even on my browser, it stucks many times. I recently installed windows and I thought there will be no issue but still i find lags and slow performances.

I was thinking about upgrading graphic card (gpu) to 2GB and getting an SSD for windows and photoshop, illustrator installation. Also, upgrading my RAM to 16GB.

What do you people think am I thinking right or not?

Is this PC upgradable to all these specs or not?

Your system is more than enough capable to run photoshop and other graphic designing tools. Just get a good 128/256gb ssd & install fresh windows inside. You won't face any lagging from there on, that I assure.
Get your brother a 2nd or a 3rd gen core i5 system. You may get one around 15k-20k depending on your configuration. Just make sure to add ssd in that config as well.

You should buy from premium sellers right here on pg.

Actually I am tight in budget right now and my brother is learning photoshop and illustrator... I have another PC which I bought very cheap.
The specs of the PC are:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz 2.39GHz
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 160GB
GPU: Intel Q965/Q963 Express chipset

Can I upgrade this PC?
I want to add more RAM, GPU, and SSD, if possible.
Please guide me about this.

Thank you

The cpu listed is a core 2 duo E6600 probably. I think it is enough for the purpose. Like I said, add ssd to the config. Even a cheap low capacity one will add quite a boost to the performance. You don't need to add a gpu & 4 gb ram is enough unless you plan on running windows 10 on it.

althou buying an ssd is a good option but i doubt there would be any decent boost as old core 2 series systems only had 3gbps sata ports whereas to use a good ssd you need a 6gbps sata port

i used illustrator and premiere pro on a core 2 quad, works just fine without any lag but you have to download 2015 version (2017 or upwards versions are heavy)

Designer here with 16 years of experience, I think if you are earning from that machine than you must spent some extra money on that because that money will not be wasted and it will increase your performance and will save your time. For any professional person tools are most important thing to have, your tools should be rock solid and should not limit your skills. Save some money and re arrange your priorities, Go for atleast some 2nd Gen i5 with and ssd and 16GB of ram, you will be able to work on all latest tools including photoshop CC, illustrator CC etc.

BTW, i started Ghost of Tsushima, and it got me hooked within the first couple of minutes. I already know It's gonna be a memorable experience. This is how you make a proper Samurai game. Not that SJW game Ubisoft is making.

That's still higher than it's total play length. A 5 hour campaign for a $50 game is downright scammy.

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

It is indeed the worst generation by far.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

  • L LegacyGamerGuy:
As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

Still, I don't like either Sony or Microsoft as they are focusing more on corporate greed than delighting customers. PC gaming is best of gaming and worth every penny.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
