How does YtPak work?

I got to know about YtPak (YouTube Pakistan) a couple of months ago and ever since, I cant stop thinking about how it works.
I mean it has each and every one of YouTube's videos and even lets us comment on and follow videos and channels. I don't think its a proxy because for one, its quite fast (unlike any YouTube Proxy I've used in the past 2 years) plus it has its own completely different UI.
And yet it has access to YouTube's entire database.

Recently, I've been thinking its using YouTube's APIs but since Im not exactly certain about what APIs are and how they work, I'm still in the dark.

Sooo any idea how it works? abobobilly StrikerX Your opinions?

P.S. I know some of you here will think I'm crazy. Alot of people have said "Yaar aam khao, per kyu ginte ho" whenever I've tried to discuss it with them, but I'm curious.

Had the same query in my mind for a long time and I think they're acting as a proxy with a front-end that shows it as a video streaming website. It indexes YouTube videos as well as provides us with an option to give it a YouTube link which it then streams.

Fast has nothing to do with it being a proxy or not. They're using (most likely) dedicated server(s) to provide content and are generating revenue via ads which is pretty decent (at least it should be) since the traffic to the website is A LOT.

The above is what I think, I can be wrong and if anyone has a better understanding, do enlighten us.

Update: Refer to post # 11

If asking questions make you crazy, then I am crazier than you are. And I like like Mangoes (who doesn't - oh wait, Donkeys -_-)

Anyway, ytPak is just a proxy site, like all the others e.g. playit.Pk. unblockyoutube, or unblockstreaming. Its just a little more flexible, have all the added options by default, where other sited may give YOU the option to enable/disable them (cookies, scripts etc)

StrikerX if the video feeds are from google itself then there shouldn't be any lag/ stuttering at any time of the day but both playitpk and ytpak stutter sometimes. And it isn't my ptcl connection that causes the stutter because other websites work fine. I believe they are some sort of proxy sites.

There are way too many reasons for lagging, poor network route, packet loss, non-optimal server selection etc etc But no they aren't using proxy. Just check the source of any page from playit.pk and you'll find the video feed link to be from google which playit.pk are fetching from using youtube's API.

I can stream 720p videos on ytpak without any stutter on a ptcl connection.

I can as well. I can stream 1080p on YouTube with a paid VPN as well. But sometimes ytpak stutters a lot even at 360p whereas YouTube/ Unblockyoutube.co.uk works fine even on 1080p.

Hello,

Found this thread from Google search and registered myself just to bring you out from the darkness :p

Ytpak.com is a semi proxy. For those YouTube Channels where Adsense is enabled we are using our own proxy servers to stream videos.
Example: Vevo Videos / T-Series ...

For those channels where Adsense is not enabled we are simply changing google DNS from "*.googlevideos.com" -> "*c.docs.google.com" - Videos are being downloaded directly from Google servers for those videos.

For everything else we are using YouTube Data API v3 - This includes "Comments posting" - "Likes" and "Channel Subscriptions" - Basically it's not a proxy.

From last couple of days PTCL is having issues streaming through c.docs.google.com servers. For those having this issue over PTCL can simply try to change their video resolution to 480P.

Having a semi proxy system we are currently working on building a hybrid system, it will be able to sense video buffering time and if it feels that current server is not able to respond it will automatically switch between proxy/direct servers.

Glad someone is eating mangoes and counting trees as well, that's how one is able to predict future.

Regards,
Erfan

Hey! Thanks for going through all that trouble just to clear our doubts! I hope you'll enjoy your time here at PakGamers.

So does this mean that PTA has only blocked the "Youtube.com" URL and the ban can be bypassed by simply changing the DNS on the server side?
And is there any way to block the actual google's video feeds?

And @Ytpak, I don't mean to be rude, but who are you and how are you related to YtPak? (Just out of curiosity!)

PTA has ordered to block two DNS to ISP's operating in Pakistan.
1) *.youtube.com
2) *.googlevideos.com

They have tried to block other DNS related to Google services and as a result Google Play Store also got banned.
Even today you can use YouTube through Android APP without any issue.

To truly block YouTube they have to ban all the DNS related to Google services.

Its not just a DNS level block on YouTube though

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
