Hisense 55U7A review, 55" 4K HDR 120Hz for 84K, is it worth it?

bro dont get this if you wanna game. try qled lakin if your range is less than try something from samsung....lakin not this. the color reproduction on samsung series is way much better.
Like I said in my review, I have a Samsung 55Q7FN and this U7A, there is no difference in input lag in games, there is no difference in colour reproduction when both TVs are calibrated properly. The only difference that I found between Q7 & U7A is in HDR, due to difference in brilliance/peak brightness/nits. In SDR that does not make much of a difference but in HDR; higher nits means that in movies with darker scenes, you will see more detail in the darker area without having to increase the brightness of the whole screen and if you increase backlight brightness then you get the details but colours don't pop that much coz of decreased contrast. Yet again, while I have both TVs, I still think U7A is a much better value at less than 1/3rd the price of Q7. There is no limit when you start chasing technology but your wallet puts some sense in to you :laugh1:

didn't really get that edge and backlight both thqts not possible and never heard of it plus in video review they said its edge lit tv

Actually, a lot of TVs use that, its very common. Either a TV is EdgeLit, BackLit or a hybrid. Hisense's own website says its EdgeLit+BackLit, AVForum's review says the same and Australia's review says BackLit. Australia has the exact same model as ours with same firmware but sold as P7 there.

that doesnt make sense edge lit and backlit at the same time that wont benefit anything...all premium series tv's use direct backlit tech and cheap ones have edge lit but both in one that isnt even required...beharhal kuch hoga chkar

You are correct that Cheaper TVs are EdgeLit
and expensive TVs are BackLit
.

but then comes even more expensive TVs; the Full Array BackLit TVs
which have FALD (Full Array Local Dimming). FALD is expensive and becomes even more expensive when you increase the number of backlights to increase the Local Dimming Zones. The problem with EdgeLit Tvs are that there is a lot of light bleed from the screen edge. What Hybrid TVs use is one Edge light at the bottom at reduced lighting to avoid light bleeds and then a second one at the centre, which they call a backlight since its not at an edge. Its just marketing but makes a TV perform better than EdgeLit TVs and give it more dimmable zones. My guess, the backlight in 55U7A is where that bump in the back at top 30% is at.

To be clear, my assumption is based on what the manufacturer claims, I haven't opened it up :)

If you see no difference in color reproduction, the problem lies in your source material.

In addition, HDR is not limited to luminosity, but also color gamut and the ability to manage black levels.

But as it is with any product, law of diminishing returns applies.

Out of 10, what would you rate the U7A, if NU8000 was 10?

Lolzz to everyone wondering why and if MU8000 is that much better etc should just simply go ahead and get it period.....instead of pulling your hair and reading tons and tons of reviews just ask yourself

1) are you fine spending that much on a Chinese product?
2) is it the only TV at your place?
3) are you looking for a flagship experience but for cheaper price? If so then please don't
4) get another TV down the line if this doesn't work for you?

I am sick of people comparing U7A to MU8000 and asking which one is better while they already have a mindset of Samsung is better just spend 40K more and get over it.

I have spent last 7 years in Beijing China I know the quality products they have there I dont give a rat's a** about China da maal, Chinese products etc nonsense Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp etc all fail every now and then and for 40K more it better be damn 30-40% good which it clearly isn't because of diminishing returns.

TLDR: If you want the best or think you got the best then please get QLED or OLED flagships if you think samsung MU8000 is better its Sammy its this its that then buy it if you want to give another brand a try then Hisense will do just fine

I don't own the U7A, so I cannot provide proper feedback, but based on specs alone, U7A would be 7/10 and NU8000 9/10 relative to each other alone.

I personally own an MU8000 and have compared it to the MU7000. There is quite a bit of difference if you have the proper source material - and this is key. If you're using the TV to watch HDR UHD blurays, that is where the fancy shit comes into play - otherwise you'd be fine to go with any TV in your price range.

Don't get triggered. This is a discussion board. Discussions is what it's for.

Peak brightness alone is a big enough spec to see the difference in panels. No one is saying Chinese products are bad. They manufacture most of the iPhone in China, and it's probably the most well built phone out there. But then again, tons of low quality Chinese clones also flood the market and they're made in China too.

Agreed but the problem i have is that people want to hear a specific answer regarding their favorite brand i wish if I could do A / B test of both these panels and decide for myself what's their worth.
