Ok, I've got an offer on a plan and can have any of these three phones.

Which one should I go for?
1) Samsung Galaxy S7 Black 32GB
2) LG G4 or LG G5
3) Nexus 6P

(PS: These are really all my options as I can pick one of these phones or iPhone 6 or SE for my current plan)

I've been a Nexus user for so many years, currently on the Nexus 5 which practically does everything I want except camera. No matter what phone I'll get, I'll default back to using the Google Now launcher as I'm too used to it now.

1) Great phone. Just TouchWiz, no chance of AOSP. You might not like it coming from a Nexus 5. However, it's water resistant, has a great camera and an SD card slot. Try and use it in store before you make a decision.

2) The G4 is basically a variation of the Nexus 5X, very similar specs. Great phone either way, but for you, I wouldn't recommend it. Software is kinda 'under-developed'.
The G5 is crap. Don't even bother with that.

3) Bingo! Coming from an N5, the 6P is the perfect choice. Great design. Fingerprint scanner. Stock Android with the Android N update coming very soon. Monthly security patches. Fast charging. USB Type C. So many great things. Get the 64GB one and you'll never look back. However, do take note, there may be a slightly refreshed version of the 6P in October. So you could wait for that too. However, if you decide not to, the current 6P is still quite a performer.

Thank you for the detailed feedback.

So I held the 6P and S7 and just for the kicks, the S7 Edge which instantly became my favorite but I don't plan to upgrade my plan.

I like S7's display and physical size and feel a lot more than the 6P which feels a bit too large. 6P had a familiar software, I'd probably change the launcher on 7 to Google Now and as long as both have Marshmallow, I'm good. Touchwiz seems less bothersome than it did the last time I played with a Galaxy, I think it was S4.

I'm now leaning a bit towards the S7. The phone just shouts 'premium'.

You're right about TouchWiz. It has evolved a lot since the GS4. On a phone with 4GB RAM, you'll be running into no issues at all.
I was considering the flat S7, but I needed a larger screen coming from a Nexus 6, so I bought the Galaxy S6 edge plus. Except for the atrocious battery, I don't regret it.
The S7 has a better battery, water resistant and the camera hump is barely even there.
It is a premium phone, Samsung has come a long way since their plastic and chrome GS3 and GS4. The glass design and the all black S7 really does look like it's worth the money.
If you like it, go for it.

It wont get Android N as soon as a Nexus, but this winter it hopefully will. Meanwhile as you said, Google Now Launcher ftw.

Why not go for ONE PLUS 3 ?
or wait next month Note 7 is launching
OnePlus phones usually aren't offered by carriers, so his network might not offer it.
Note 7 will require a higher monthly fee since it will require him to upgrade his plan.
Go for S7 or S7 Edge. TouchWiz have been improved a lot since S4 days. I'm sure you will like it now.

As pleasant said if you can hold and wait Note 7 is coming in August.

S7 Edge and Note 7 will require him to change his plan.

Flat S7 and 6P can be purchased as upgrades on his monthly plan.

It's fun stuff like this that we don't get in Pakistan. :(

Well I'm on a $45 plan and there's an offer that'll get me an S7, 6P or G5 with the plan if I lock myself in for 2 years. I don't mind that.

Yes, will go with the S7. Waiting won't help because Note7 will be in a cateogry above my plan, resting with HTC10, Z5 Premium, S7 Edge, etc.

You're dead right and yes, marketing and phone sales are completely differently handled here. It doesn't make sense to buy a phone on full cash. Usually you get amazing phones with your plans.

Yeah, plans are dirt cheap in Pakistan so I doubt we'll see these packages there. I mean a basic plan here costs around $35 a month. One can get a cheaper monthly bill through prepaid or city-specific providers but you can go to $50 and above plans with great phones.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the brainstorm session guys. I'm gonna get an S7 by this weekend. Boy it's been ages since I've used a Samsung.

Good choice with the S7.

Get a case please because the glass back is a pain to keep clean and keep 'unbroken'.

Pindi Boy.
I personally love this cover:

I would have used a transparent cover on my Nexus 5x but the buttons were hard to press (Power, volume up and down) since the cover was very thick.
Then I chose this cover(couldn't find the 5x version :p) because the phone is black and so is the cover so I'm not missing out anything :D

Just the Nexus Logo but that's fine.

Doesn't have the shock cushioning.

I've read and experienced that Gorilla glasses can withstand direct impact and will save shatter 80% of the time. But an impact on the side/corner will shatter them 90% of the time. An actual shock absorbing bumper is a must.

@Shyber, get the Galaxy S7 (or Edge preferably).

Your only complain is touchwiz right? Samsung knows a lot of people hate it and they have a solution for such nerds (me included). The solution is called Good Lock. It's a System UI replacement from Samsung itself and they update it frequently based on actual user feedback. Doesn't need root or anything, just a simple App available for download from Galaxy store or APKMirror.

Here's what it's results look like (the colors are of course changeable via the app). The Lockscreen is also very minimalist with several cool effects (if you want to use them).

EDIT: Just read the second page and well.. good choice :D Give Good Lock a try.

If you don't mind me asking, what launcher are you using?
