Hi all!

I had a spare G620 and a 60 GB SSD lying around so I tried to sell it, after getting ridiculous offers I thought of building a HTPC/Media Server of these spare parts. Here are the specs so far

1- 8 GB Value RAM (Bought)
2- 1 TB Seagate HDD (Bought)
3- Intel Pentium G620 (Bought)
4- ASUS P8H61 - M LE (Bought)
5- Mushkin Enhanced 60 GB SSD (Bought)
6- Graphics Card (Convince me to buy one)
7- Corsair CX430 PSU (Almost final unless you guys suggest anything better)

Now the real problem is of casing, I want a sleek and as small as possible as its going to sit besides my HDTV. I can't seem to find any good casing for this requirement, the only good casing I found is from Antec HTPC casing but its too damn expensive and I want to keep this build as cheap as possible. So I need your suggestions. Thanks.

Regards.

U wont find a cheap HTPC Casing
Search around the local market for the smallest MicroATX Casing u can find if u want cheap

Dunno how much Antec HTPC Case u mentioned Cost but have a look at this one
Casing - Thermaltake Armor A30 Casing - VM70001W2Z in Pakistan for Rs.7300.00 | Computer Zone
Expensive but looks damn good and is very small

There is no need for a Graphics Card unless u will be using ur HTPC to encode videos using Cuda Cores although very fast it does not have good enough image quality
Also a Graphics Card can take the load of processor during HD Playback in some Media Players but i personally never utilized it so cant comment

Thanks for your reply..... This is the Antec htpc casing:

Its around 15K, sexy but too damn expensive, my max budget is 8K..... I already had A30 as a worst case option in mind, but honestly, its fugly........ But I'll have to buy it next week if I remain unable to find a better alternative.....

Here is my temp casing: :p:p (6 years old casing........ )

htpc is up and running like a champ...... I bought Silverstone modular 500w psu instead of Corsair CS430, in case I decide to throw in a GPU for light gaming (CS etc)....... also I tossed in a lying TV tuner card to record and watch TV........

How much power is this set up going to need when on idle..... I plan to keep it on 24/7 and use it as a media server for movies, TV, music.......?

Thanks.

That Antec is one sexy looking case (y)

For power consumption as a review i found the Idle System Draw is 64W considering HD6850 + G620
As per techpowerup the Idle Consumption of HD6850 is ~15W meaning less than 50W on Idle
