How're you so sure that its because of your Graphic card. You mean your computer restarts out of the blue? Give it give a blue screen or how does it restart?

Alright, well then after how much time does this happen (the restart thing). As soon as you turn on the computer with the graphic card installed? or does it happen after sometime?

He mentioned above that instead of his card he tried his friend's card same as him then computer does;nt restart
i think your gpu has heating issues or it might be overclocked, check it;s setting and set to default.

whoops my bad....ok you can try under clocking the card and see if that solves your problem...4870 run really hot...

what are the idle and load temps you are getting on your card right now??

ok, run some burn in test on your Card. try it on friend PC who has same card.
if problem is still there. Open it and clean the heatsink and apply new paste
Check if capacitor are in good condition or not
From whom you bought it? is it happening from day one?

Clean your GPU and check GPU temperature it should not be above 80C (at load). If GPU temp is not good, remove heatsink, reapply thermal paste and then check!

Secondly try changing drivers, try newer drivers or old drivers.

Bro I know what you talking about.

I have XFX4870 full slot cooler . Same thing was happening with me. So, I found that 4870 takes too much electricity and that's why you're computer restarts.
SOLUTION:
1.Check whether you are using true 500 watt power supply.
2.Plug power supply directly into the wall plug I mean don't plug in extension.
3.Under clock your processor.
4.Remove extra things from the computer that are taking power.

Regards
Ahmed.
Acknowledge us what you experience after this.

On IAMX alienware also suggest me to reapply thermal paste
