Half-Life: Alyx is the most immersive VR game to date. But is it the best when it comes to gameplay? A VR-centric critic says no ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not really into VR but HL: Alyx might be something I need to check out. This is giving be hope that Valve might be back to making more entries into their other franchises I wouldn't mind Portal 3 or L4D 3.

Back down to 93 after this review:

AusGamer - 6/10

Too often Half-Life: Alyx feels like baby's first VR shooter and for many — especially those who purchased VR hardware to play it — this isn't a dealbreaker. But trading off the Half-Life name for an introductory course to VR relegates HL: Alyx to spin-off territory when the characters involved and the story it tells could be so much more. Alyx Vance deserves better, and so too do VR gamers.
Certainly was Necrokiller's first VR shooter. Harkatein bhi bachoun waali theen :hah:

Now dig up some post where I'm hating on the Half-Life series
Why dig it up when he provides the evidence of his agenda himself

Didn't post after Dreams score dropped.
Didn't post after Persona 5 Royal score dropped.
Tries to find flaws in his precious "VR-centric" 10/10 review. Then proceeds to post the lowest "non VR-centric" review excerpts and updated metascore.

Kitna zaleel hoga ye banda apni hi OT mein :hah:

Second play through done. Man, that ending is just so so good. And Chapter 7 is sheer brilliance in game design. The new "We Dont Go to Ravenholm".

Easy Allies - 10/10

Fans have waited an absurd amount of time for a Half-Life game in any form, but when you're playing, the wait is really the furthest thing from your mind. Alyx is so completely captivating that as soon as you put it down, you want to talk to someone about it, get them to play it, really do anything you can to make them feel the same awe that you do. Like any great VR experience, it's something you can't possibly understand fully until you try it, but once you do, it's hard to recognize Alyx as anything other than a monumental achievement.

GameSkinny - 10/10

Half-Life: Alyx picks up the baton and carries it much further than anybody ever expected of a VR title, let alone a "spin-off" title that isn't technically Half-Life 3. In short, Half-Life: Alyx is here, and it's the real deal. And while I can see myself replaying it many times in the near future, the only question I have now is: "What's next?"

Gaming Age - 10/10

I genuinely cannot find a real fault with this game. Sound design is incredible, the visuals are stunning, the story exceeds all expectations, combat and puzzle design manage to remain true to what fans would want, while also seamlessly translating themselves to the VR space, there is humor, there is horror, everything comes together and creates the perfect Half-Life game. This is the game that VR was waiting for, this is the game that VR was built for, and if you have VR technology, you owe it to yourself to play this game. If you have been waiting for the right game to come along and make the VR purchase worth it, Half-Life: Alyx is it.
Metascore going strong at 93.

While Doom Eternal's soundtrack was pretty damn good, Alyx's is my fav this year so far (followed by Ori 2).

They are releasing it one chapter at a time.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

MS one upping Sony in catching the biggest L in gaming
tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
