Hey.
I know this is late, but seeing as a LOT of people bought the Humble Bundle with Battlefield 3 in it, and complaining how large the files and how lame Origin is, I'm writing this guide. I just wrote this for my friend but thought it might help the people here as well.

If you already have RELOADED/SKIDROW/DVDs etc., you might want to resume from there instead of starting from 0%. You might also need this because Origin does NOT properly resume downloads. Sometimes, you download some and then close Origin. When you open Origin, it sometime ignores the download (there will be no download bar), DO NOT PANIC, you still have the files, but Origin does not detect them. Here's what you need to do.

Remember, this will not make your download 100%, this will make it around 61-64% because of all the patches, updates, DLC content (e.g Guns, because other people have DLC guns, you need the files to see them and stuff).

This is what I wrote for my friend (So it might be a bit irregular).

Make a copy of your Battlefield 3 folder first before attempting. I will not be responsible for loss of your files. I can guarantee it works because I've tried this 4 times.

Don't simply copy-paste the old(RELOADED) files to Origin folder.
Even if you have the files and you start the download on Origin. IT WILL NOT DETECT YOUR FOLDER!
In fact, it will delete all your files and then start from 0%.

Put the old "Battlefield 3" folder you have in the directory where Origin downloads your games.
You can change where Origin downloads games. Change it in Origin settings.
Mine was F:/Battlefield 3

Now, change the name of the folder to something else
My directory was F:/Battlefield 3/Battlefield 3/

The inside folder is the real one.
Change its name to whatever "BF3" or "Battlefield 3123", so it's something like F:/Battlefield 3/Battlefield 3123/
Now, go to Origin and start your download.

After about 16 MB is done, PAUSE THE DOWNLOAD. Do not simply exit Origin while download is running.
Close Origin completely

Unhide hidden folders from Folder Options
Now, go to C:/ProgramData/Origin
Remember, ProgramData is a hidden folder

Inside the origin folder, delete the folders called "DownloadCache", "EntitlementCache" and "LocalContent".
Go to the Battlefield 3 folder, you'll see 2 folders.
One will be "Battlefield 3", other will be "Battlefield 3123" or whatever you named it
Delete the "Battlefield 3" folder (the new downloaded one)
And then rename the "Battlefield 3123" to "Battlefield 3"

Now start Origin. The download will be exactly where you left off (16MB or whatever). If it shows no download bar, re-do all these steps.
If you have the download bar, resume and the download bar will go to 61% directly! (Less if you have Premium)

When you want to resume your download but Origin does not show any progress bar, do not panic. Re-do these steps with your downloaded folder and the download will resume, albeit 2-5% back.

It is as simple as that install origin and start downloading bf3 till 1% or 2%
Now where ever it was downloading paste the already installed bf3 files in that directory close origin reopen origin and let him check all files and it will start downloading remaining patches

What I did:
  • Started Origin.
  • Paused download at 2%.
  • Exited Origin.
  • Pasted the Battlefield 3 folder from my PC to notebook .../Origin Games/Battlefield 3.
  • Started Origin and Resume.
  • It jumped to 100% > Finished > Installing > Done > Ready to Play!
That's all there was to it.

P.S:
Mine was patched version, so it jumped to 100% otherwise it'll stop at around 60%.

I have another issue with origin, I pasted all bf3 files in origin folder and it started downloading from 55%, after a while it hanged mean no value of time remaining, download speed and percentage change, i turned it off and again it downloaded for a while then same issue, i cleaned all downloaded files manually and through origin software, same issue after sometime at 0% it stuck

same issue with other games of origin, steam works fine

That's the point. It doesn't work for me. I just wrote this long guide for people who want "every single step". To summarize this guide, all you really need to know is this:
"Download a little, pause, delete cache, copy-paste, resume".

All this extra information is to make it idiot-proof.
