[h=5]Need someone with a little patience to answer this as it will require some time to read: I'm building a workbench pc from the scratch. Here are the parts I currently have collected/plan to buy:
i5 4430 (haswell)
Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
Corsair dominator CL9 8gb kit
2TB seagate hdd
Zalman z11 plus
Some random sony 24x dvd rw drive.
CM real power pro 750w
currently planning to use an asus 6670 1gb ddr 3 card
Now here is the catch:
I can go for another 16gb ram kit and a sandisk 128gb gb ssd or a MSI 7850 1gb ddr5. The original plan was for the GPU but as I discovered, im not exactly a graphics freak when it comes to PC games. The supplier is out of stock atm and will restock in 1-3 days time around which I must communicate what I want exactly. Is the extra ram and SSD worth it? Or is the GPU overkill for me? I play and work on a 24 1080p and a 27 1440p screen but most games work smoothly on my previous system (the gpu listed above is from that system) If neither option is worth it and/or an upgrade is incoming in the near future, please let me know so I can plan accordingly. Cheers :)[/h]

I believe u have a budget of around 23-25k in this budget gpu should be ur ist upgrade ... In used stuff u can get ur hands on a decent gpu like 7870xt, 660ti, 660gtx may b

Otherwise see if u can fit in a 64gb ssd plus a gpu upgrade
Ram is I think enough unless ur a graphic designer or work in photoshop ...

Currenly picking up items in the UK, have a budget of 20k for a good gpu so 7870/660 would be pushing the envelope. The card ive located is this one:
MSI AMD HD7850 1GB DDR5 PCI-E Graphics Card: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
As I will be in the UK for the foreseeable future, the 3 year warranty that the merchant offers for specific msi products will be more than handy. (im getting the current gpu at 115 pounds or approx 17.5k pkr as part of a bundle with bioshock infinite, farcry 3 : blood dragon and tomb raider and its much cheaper than any solution around its price point. Interestingly, 8gb seems to be the current sweet spot for ram, so ill pass on the ram upgrade I guess. A more important question now is whether I need an ssd and whether I should hunt for a more powerful card under a rough 20k budget.

Anyway, you should definitely consider the SSD. You don't necessarily need to go for the 7850. As you said earlier, you are comfortable with 6670 at 1080p gaming, so I'd suggest a 7700. That should give you a significant performance increase in games, while save you some bucks for the SSD.

16 GB is overkill. Do away with it. 8 GB is enough.

HD 7770 will not be enough for next gen games like watchdogs etc. So I would suggest a HD 7850. Then a SSD whenever you can in the future.

Even if you want to play games casually on your PC, on FULL HD, 7850 2GB, yes 2Gb is required for normal default graphics setting of current games, let alone upcoming, If I were you, I would have waited to see GTX 760 offerings
Either change your CPU to 4670k or change Mobo to H87 b85 one *
* If guying for non K Pro and H87 b85, dont buy CPU cooler at all

PSU is not worth it and Overkill, A good 600w Unit will do good, Pick any from FSP, Corsair, Silverstone, and not CM

I bear witness to the fact that casual gaming at 1080p doesn't require a 7850.

A 7770, at 1080p, can play almost every game out there. Sure, for the likes of Metro Last Light, Crysis 3, Rage, you'll have to lower the resolution to 900p, but other games run on 1080p fine. Some at medium, some at maximum settings

You don't need 7850 for 'casual' 1080p gaming.

7770 can handle casual gaming now but i don't think it'll work for the next gen and some upcoming games.....
That's what others said... 7850 2gb will be the best choice i guess....

And as cerberus said that psu is more than enuf buy a 600w but a DECENT one....
if u are going for CM go for the silent pro gold series other wise its better to go for Corsair/antec etc
