Internet Freak-out Over Google's New Privacy Policy Proves Again That No One Actually Reads Privacy Policies

Google has the world calling it evil once again. (That’s at least the third time in 2012. Kudos, Google.) This time it’s thanks to a blog post Tuesday by Google’s director of privacy announcing the company’s plans to turn its 70+ privacy policies into just one that will apply to all of Google’s products, from Gmail to Picasa to YouTube. Along with simplifying its privacy policy, Google is planning to have more overlap in your information from different services:

How Will Google’s New Privacy Policy Affect You?

If you were hanging around the internet yesterday afternoon, you probably noticed some hubbub around Google's new, unified Terms of Service Agreement. But what's it actually going to mean for you?

Should Google’s New Privacy Policy Concern You?

As the search giant pools its hoard of personal data, users must ultimately ask: “Does Google have my best interests at heart?”

For average folk, it ain't a big deal. But if someone goes on to become a bigshot, politician, celebrity or whatever then he should be concerned about all these policies.

But one should avoid public sharing of their sensitive private data. Even if not sharing and for private usage, the data is being stored on some remote server is accessible to some extent to the 'data keepers'. And no matter what the policies state, any federal warrant can void them and authorities can access EVERY data available for an individual.

SO no matter what the policies state guys, just be vigilant. Call me paranoid but since I'm a software engineer working on a service based product that is run by a community of users pretty much like facebook, I know how easy it is for me to access some highly sensitive data that our end users put online. It's just that most of our end users are nobodies and there's no point in me digging out their data.

Well its their if they wanna change and I have no problem with that. They will access our personal data like this
- I am talking to my friend about PG
- Google gets the information and keeps it
- They use this information by giving us ads related to gaming or pakistan or even PG (if they have signed up)

Do I lose anything?
No
Do I gain anything?
No
Does google gain anything?
Yes
If so then what?
Money
Do I profit from it?
Absolutely
How?
By getting more services from them and a better user interface

So far so good unless some one is doing something else on google talk :looking:
