I need a suggestion from you guys regarding generator. Which company to buy? Chinese or name brand? What has been your experience with generators? I am looking for a generator that I will use very sparingly... couple of times a month max. And the load 1 to 1.5 kw.
I get 6-8 hrs load shedding daily. I curretly have a good size solar system. But the problems are these:
-> my batteries are 2+ years old now and they are starting to show age. Sooner or later they will need to be replaced. The problem is they're expensive. Approx 1.4 lacs to replace all four. If I buy a generator now, I may not need to replace batteries for at least a year. The generator can cover me in case of 3+ hours continuous light breakdown at night. And the UPS batteries will cover me with the usually 1-2 hrs loadshedding time. Also, whenever I do buy batteries, I can buy 2 instead of 4 to cover longer breakdowns with generator.
->2-3 times a year I get big breakdowns. 24+ hrs. I dont have as much backup with 4 batteries.
-> I dont have any backup in case of clouds/rains. This is rare where I live.. a few days max in a year.
