As a 360 and ps2 owner I usually spend approx 500 rs. per month. But sometimes due to accessories (remote controller), Service, or in extreme gaming month (nove, ber) the budget goes upto 1000-1500 rs per month. It is not extreme high as compared to some rich people in Pakistan(I belong to medium class) but sometimes I think that my School Fee(the Punjab School) is 1200 rs per month(got discount or you can say scholarship due to good marks in board) andmy gaming bughet is more than my school fee !!! this makes me think that AM I a Fazool Khrach?

I have seen people buying 1+ disks of ps3 per month which easily surpasses my bugdet so is it Fazool Kharchi or not?

I know that those guys are extremely rich but you can spend this money somewhere else like helping the poor etc.Okay consider If someone help poor but also spend 4000 rs on gaming per month..is it fazool kharchi or not?

According to me one should spend only 400 rs per month(you can buy 3 xbox 360 disks).Because no matter how rich you are .. Spending too much on gaming (buying HDs,Extra Accessories) is Fazool kharchi. Is not it?

Well it depends upon what you think is fazool. I mean, if gaming is important to you then you shouldn't think twice about the money you spend on it. But if you don't want to spend so much money on gaming, then I guess you shouldn't buy so many games?

Well I also belong to a middle class family, and me and my brother we spent alot on gaming dvds etc, but I don't it is fazool kharchi and neither my dad,mom says anything to us, its because gaming is the only hobby we have, no bikes , outing, dining with friends , mobiles etc.

So that depends in which situation you are and if you spending money anywhere else also.

i was readin it as gamin = fazool karachi:) & was thinkin wht does this guy mean? After readin i got wht he's sayin. Sorry bro. I dont think tht u can call hobby fazol krachi. Neither its abt how much money u put on it. Just its abt ya feelin & passion for soemthng. Mayb someone is spendin a hell of money of gamin stuff & dont really play them & on the other hand someone spendin few 100's & gettin the most outta of it if u got wht i mean. As this bro put up this question u also got XBOX 360 & PS 2 well it also cost ya. Where many boys do play games on the video shop for tokken thng. I remmember when PS was out me & ma friend used to go & play tht on tokken games thng cuz could'nt afford to have one. So this world works like this. So its not fazol kharchi just ya hobby. If u got to spend, spend it as u want .
Today i was askin ma mom to give me money to buy NFS UC & she was like no u'll get ciggs:crying: but she gave me later (1) (long story abt ciggs game over knows abt it). Sorry if i got off the track.

Well i know i dont go to any restarents or any where with my friends at all and everything like that, now my parents know that im safe outside shit which is going on nowadays and they are happy about that im not so much awara bacha ,which they think,
so they buy me everything related to my pc , under budget, and i never shouted infront of them to buy me this or that, coz i know i have to take everything side by side , you know the balance..chader dekh k pao phelao..
Its not fazool kharchi, well it is sometimes when your parents say it, for you at this age its never like that. And believe me when you will grow up you will see it your self that how difficult it is to earn, and then you wont be spending on such things.
Balance should be there.fazool kharchi ka koi chker nai hai..

I used to have this pressure on me, but ever since I've started earning myself, I've been able to balance out all expenses and yeah, I buy PS3 games...even sealed ones (4000+).

These days I'm eyeing a Home Theater system (Gaming+Movies) and I've put aside a little budget for a PC upgrade as soon as it's required. I got a dedicated gaming mouse/keyboard combo and spare PS3 pads. Heck I've got a laptop dedicated to torrents (mostly movies/games) downloads and LAN parties. Just this year, I've spent over 1lac on gaming/movies.

Is it fuzool kharchi? I donno. Its not that I'm cutting out on other things to do this. Helping the poor thing is there too. Its my passion, its my hobby and over the 20 year period, it (gaming) has helped me become what I am today. Its a part of my character and I don't consider anything spent on myself as fuzool.

Just think of this way. What if I had those 1 lac in my bank account and I died tomorrow?

By this logic 90% of the stuff we spend money on could be classified as 'fazool kharchi'...

Don't you think spending on gaming creates jobs and helps our economy?...

I am sure even today 100s of people are making a living from gaming in Pakistan (gaming cafe owners, cd shops, hardware shops, isps, websites ;))...If we stop spending on it what will happen to those jobs? I reckon more interest in gaming (and more spending) means more jobs, which is not a bad thing...

helping the poor is important ofcourse, but don't think that your spending on games doesn't help other people, i mean what better way to help the poor but by providing them jobs?

Its better to spend your money on something rather than just keep it all in a bank account...if you can afford it (while not shirking your responsibility to give charity) then you should spend on it!

Who knows maybe all your spending on games will mean the local cd shops walas son/daughter gets a better education... (wishful thinking but still :) )

Sure , save it all and then take it to your grave .

I have a PS3 for quite a time now and I still have only 3 games for it :p
I'm not an Expert Gamer . Infact , I started "PROPER"Gaming only about 4 years back .
I don't really spend much on Gaming because I can't .
I can't afford to buy PS3 games every month .
But , I dont have a problem with that . Because the trading facility is there and it is great .
I really don't think spending on this Hobby is Fuzool kharchi at all .
Think of this , you are safe from the bad stuff .
I've seen people of my age blowing their wad on stuff like cigs , alcohol , girls etc etc .
IMO It's a very safe hobby to be a gamer .

I think that we should not say that this thing will be worth for me or I m contented with this thing then I can spend as much money as I can.Apart from gaming if someone is contented with WRONG Hobbies then does that mean that he should spend his money as much as he can ?(Drugs etc)
What do you guys think?

And jazzy bhai is quite right.I m also not fond of hanging out with friends.I mostly spend my time in home so Games are best for me as a hobby.

And the guy named(Con..) can't remember his name, said it right that there are lot of people which have bussiness in this field so It is better for economy...But i think we should not spend money lavishly on games for them.Charity begins at Home so we should first take care the bugdet of ours.

BUT After reading your comments I ve concluded that GAMING is not a Fazool Kharchi unless you stay in limits and play them, not just collect them for show off.It is the best and probably the safest hobby for little kids and for those who do not like to hang around. But Still Excess Of Everything Is Bad.

It depends on yourself to what you call a "fazool kharchi", usually investing on something in which you have a deep interest or have a passion for it it's not called a fazool kharchi for such person, for the others it might be. For example I call fazool kharchi to these things:

- investing money on cell phone balance for talking with your GF all over the night and day :S
- consuming mega tonz of money for flying kites on bassant festival.
- eating 3 times or more a week at KFC, pizza hut or some other expensive food chains.
etc...

but on the other hands I don't mind investing thousands of ruppes a month on gaming, movies, music, clothes etc cause I like them but ofcourse I keep my spendings in limits and according to the budget, it's not like I spend my whole earnings on my hobbies :)

Still for many of our parents (including mine) investing on gaming is a fazool kharchi, but it's not their fault becasue they don't know much about gaming nor they have a single bit of interest in it!

Depends on the person really! If one is a sports fanatic, he will spend thousands of rupees on sports equipment, if one has a hobby of having a movie collection, and buys a lot of movies every month, or if one has a hobby of buying mobile phones (selling their old ones of course) every 3 months or so, what if someone loves eating at fast foods and expensive restruants? What I am trying to say that everyone has a hobby which they spend their money on, it just depends on the person where he likes to spend his money, lets say u quite gaming but after a month or so u will catch another hobby, such as buying expensive shirts with all ur pocket money! But remember keep a balance, like if u spend X amount, try also to save X amount, always keep a balance!

i know me and my brother use to get like 10riyals for pocket money and we spend all of that on games every month it makes like 4 games (sega or nintendo drives) a month
if i might be getting 100 a month i probably still would be spending that all on games
what ever pocket money amount is its still pocket money should reach to 0 before next month
so there is no concept for fazool kharchi on pocket money
