The new motherboard is a part of Foxconn's "Digital Life" series which feature more connectivity and digital entertainment capability.
The new motherboard supports all Intel LGA775 processors which run on the 800, 1066 and 1333MHz FSB. The motherboard features a so called "combo" solution with support for DDR2 and DDR3 memory. Two DDR3 slots can take 4GB of DDR3 memory at up to 1333MHz and four DDR2 slots for up to 8GB DDR2 memory at up to 1066MHz.
The new X38A motherboard features three PCI Express x16 slots with support for DAAMIT's Crossfire. The motherboard comes with two PCIe x1 and two plain PCI slots. As for the connectivity, it has eight USB 2.0, two Firewire, two Gigabit ethernet ports, two eSATA, six SATA and one IDE connector.
As a part of Foxconn's "Digital Life" series this motherboard has a neat feature called Dual Digital Audio. This feature provides high quality sound over digital or analogue ports and allows users to split two sound sources to independent outputs. Its Dual Gigabit Lan and Dual eSATA features are also the part of "Digital Life" along with the so called Foxconn Digital Connector which will provide the link to future Foxconn Digital Life products.
The X38A features solid-state capacitors and Ferrite Choke design which should improve component reliability. Foxconn has used its Cool Pipe design for NB, SB and VRM cooling. The motherboard comes with an optional fan which can be attached to the NB heatsink.
According to Foxconn, the motherboard should be available in November, at a suggested retail price of €173-188 (£120-130/$244-264).
