Final Year Engineering Project

Hello Pakgamers! I am Ali.I am studying Telekom Engg From FAST-NU,I am in my seventh Semester and well have to submit a proposal regarding my final year project.The problem is I have no idea what to do my project about? Please if any of you could come up with some ideas etc would be helpful.Regards,ALI

No offense, but I would like to quote one of my teacher here who told me the exact same thing when I was on your stage:

"You are about to become an engineer yet you can't think of a idea about your final year project? IMO such person don't deserve to be an engineer who don't know how to use his brain, you very disappointed me Bilal".

After hearing all this I left my professor room, however what he told me when I was leaving the room that "be creative bring few of your ideas then I might tell you few pointers about your "what to do" problem"

So dude, use your brain and be creative, bring up some ideas, and believe me the habit of generating ideas will help you a lot in the future

Let me give you some pointers (these were the project which were proposed by few of my professors for the telecom batch):

- Auto Theft Car Protection System using Mobile Phone
- Automatic Parking Reservation System using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Tracking.
- Anti Frequency Jamming System for GSM
- Electromagnetic Radiations Hazard at Cellular Sites

Don't ask me about "How to do these" projects I do have these projects descriptions but I can't provide you any, you have to search the internet yourself because you are a future engineer!

if u r comfortable with symbian c or java, and can easily use mobile libraries, then go for the project with the mobile in it.

usually teachers are floating their own ideas, but Bilal bahi's project ideas are also very good. i especially like that gsm frequency jammer thing.

search internet and add ur creative ideas to the project, discuss with ur group mates and cousins... i was in the same situation 4 months ago... check my thread

i did my project in MIMO systems and BLAST in matlab , i demonstrated difference b/w MIMO and SISO system and shown integration through MATLAB

from NUST list i liked these projects

GSM,RFID based remote Access Management System

Bluetooth Hotspot

(try this kind of project if you have great interest in Image processing......i hate it btw )
Object Identification and Tagging in digital Video Formats

inferno: u r telecom engineer right?? r u doing a job related to ur studies? wht kind of job it is? is it easy to get job as a telecom engineer in Pakistan? Wht r the starting salaries?

or u could try a few Control System based projects...they r pretty much famous now-a-days.ask ur subject teacher for details.a few my uni is offering r follows,
-Remote Airplane Control.
-EFI Engine Troubleshooting System.
-PDI controller interfacing.
-Platform stabilizing system.
-Environmental Control system.

yeah u got a point but some uni dont provide any lists...they just leave evrything on students

there is no job security in pakistan , you need very strong references for job
i have just completed my Engineering with majors in Telecommunication and so far in one month from 10 sources i haven't recieved any call and i dont have any strong reference
my GPA is 2.59 with internship in ufone , trainee at dovemax and i have 3-4 years sales experience too , i want a job related to my studies and i love field work

^^now-a-days being only an Engineer is not enough...u need some managment skills too.thats why many people r trying the BSC+MBA combo...and so far i hve seen people with zero reference and 2.5 CGPA getting gud jobs with a strong possiblity of promotions too

u live in Islamabad right??...right nw Islamabad is booming in Telecom sector...1 month is not much time.try to be patient and InshaAllah u will get a gud job

my suggestion... make something hip which mobile companies would be interested in marketing to their "young" crowd...

e.g. google maps on mobile has a triangulation feature which uses netowrk towers to locate ur approximate location on earth even without GPS. since most people have mobile phones without GPS.. so u can use same technique too...

The actual application will let u add ur buddies to the list of people u want to track by their mobile number. an sms generates and request receiver to authenticate u as his buddy and only then his tracking will start.. using this friends can keep track of each others location and always see where other person is.

Parents can use it to track their children and friends can use it to see each other too... tht would be cool.

kashi, where have u applied for job, i mean which companies, wht possible jobs are there for telecom engineer in Pakistan, i have heard, if u have studied from gud uni like Nust giki uet fast, then u can get job easily, is this correcT?

Ok i agree that a good university totally gives your CV the thing it needs, but in the end it all sums at what you actually have learned your skills your overall attitude. This is what makes you in or out!
