DSL Modem and Router bridging problems

Hey guys,
I have the PTCL DSL Router bridged to my wifi router [TPlink WDR4300] (DSL Router connected to TP link's WAN port so the router does the PPPoE login).

Occasionally, there is a problem with login authentication (PPP authentication error IIRC) and my TPLink router fails to connect to the net. However, if I turn off the bridging profile on the DSL router and let it do the PPPoE login, there are never any issues with authentication.
Now the DSL router provided by PTCL is quite shit obviously and i'd like to utilize the routing functions of my TP link router.

Question: Is there a solution to fix the login authentication problem?

hmm... that is odd. You could try updating the firmware to the latest version of the TP-LINK router. You can reset the PTCL modem and remove all profiles first and then set up a bridge profile to start off fresh, Do the same with the TP-Link router.

Personally, I'd ditch the tp-link firmware and go for 3rd party open source firmware. You can try gargoyle to start off with as it is very user-friendly and easy to set up. OpenWRT is a bit hard to set up for novice and for any extra functionality you'd have to add the specific packages after flashing the firmware itself and lastly... DD-WRT... It has issues...

Resetting the TP link router fixed the issue, but it's not a permanent solution as the issue crops up again usually. I probably should change my router now as it's not receiving firmware updates anymore.

Grab an ASUS router if you can or have someone import a Netgear one for you.

Best decision ever. I've gone through 2 ASUS routers and have the entire house running on a Netgear Nighthawk X4S now. Was very expensive to import but definitely worth it.

ASUS has serious QC issues and i'm quite hesitant in buying their products....bought an ASUS AC88u router last year and had it replaced 3 times...each time, the router failed within the first hour of plugging in - and this was happening to a lot of users worldwide. Went back to the TP link router.

That's exactly why I didn't go for the 88U this time around. It was available locally but mixed reviews online so I didn't wanna risk it.
Have used the 66U in the past (bought it on PG), but I bricked it. Was a fantastic router.
Then got a slightly wonky AC3200 from HomeShopping. It's lying in my cupboard now.

Netgear on the other hand had fantastic reviews on Amazon and a networking forum so I went for it. One of the best routers I've ever used.

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
