Disk drive problem?

okay so about 2 weeks back, my 360 completely stopped reading disks. Games, movies, audio cds, EVERYTHING >_<
i took it to this shop to be repaired and the guy fixed it up twice, by "boosting the lens power" but it only worked like right after i took it home, and then if i left it for a while, and started it up again, it'd stop working, both times he repaired it and both times this happened

Then he told me to bring him my old rrod'd xbox and he'd swap the lens. but he couldnt and said he swapped the motor and that it was working fine. so i took it home, played it and it worked

this was last night. and now its doing the same thing again!!!!!!

someone help me out, is it the lens, will i have to buy a new disk drive, or what? the xbox itself works fine otherwise.

i think you would have to buy a new disk drive.
why dont you contact faizy? he is a PG member too.

i did contact faizy first, he said i'd need a new drive too >_<

I think the best solution right now would be to swap the drive. 2-4k and your done. My 2nd 360's dvd lens also f**ked up. It stopped reading discs after I smacked my 360. It would run fine for a week or two and then stop reading discs. Then I would open up the 360 and clean the lens and Viola it would start working again.

yeah thats what i did too! clean the lens and it works fine and then i shut it off and turn it on again and BAM! its gone
what if i get a new lens? coz that would be cheaper

id recommend getting a new drive (sm1) \the lens ought to eff up sooner or later
